Summary: He knew that falling is love was a mistake, but Naruto just couldn't help him self. But, when they end up traveling through time to undo the war; both of them end up getting into more than they bargained for.

Bonds through Time
Prologue
Sandal feet moved across the hardened ground as fast as the legs could carry them. He couldn't believe he had run off after the traitors on his own. If he had not been too impatient to wait, Shikamaru would have gone with him, but Naruto said he had to do this alone.
Shikamaru understood where he was coming from though. They were his teammates. Naruto had considered Sasuke and Sakura his friends. But then they had betrayed everyone. They knew why Sasuke had left, but why had Sakura had followed him?
Shikamaru forced his legs to move faster. Something had happened, he just knew it. Naruto was in trouble and it was up to Shikamaru to bring him home.
(Valley at the End)
The sound of chakra empowered fist hitting flesh filled the air. Those fists were followed by grunts of pain and lungs coughing up blood.
Naruto gasped as once again Sasuke's fist connected with his stomach. Sasuke smirked as Naruto fell to his knees. "This is why I left, dobe! The village is full of nothing but weak fools! I'll never be able to revenge my clan if I stayed here!"
"Yea! Sasuke-kun's right, baka! You and everyone else are useless! This village is weak, especially to allow a monster like you to be a ninja!" Sakura yelled as she slammed her foot down on Naruto's back. The next kick sent him off the waterfall's edge and into the churning water's below. Sakura just laughed and she saw his body disappear under the water's surface.
With one last look at Naruto's beaten and bloodied form, they headed away from Konoha and straight towards Otogakure and Orochimaru.
Tired lungs let out a choked sound as a pair of soft dark eyes took in the motionless figure in the water. Shikamaru quickly made his way over to Naruto's motionless form. He gently rolled the fox container over and sucked in a sharp breathe as he took in the damage; Naruto had a gaping wound going through his shoulder. It looked like someone had tried to pierce his heart. Then Shikamaru remembered that Kakashi had taught Sasuke the Chidori. Sasuke had used the move on Naruto intending to kill him.
Shikamaru was really starting to hate the Copy-cat Jonin right about now. The said Jonin hadn't even bothered even bothered to go after his students leaving Naruto to take on both of his teammates alone. Shikamaru gently lifted the still unconscious Naruto onto his back and began the trek back to Konoha. Once he had Naruto safe he could concentrate on Sasuke's and Sakura's disappearance. But first Naruto had to be taking to the hospital and healed.
