Consequential

"Oh no!" A euphonious shrill echoed through the hallway, resonating through the stone antechamber where currently Aro, Caius, Marcus and the rest of the Volturi guards waited for the ravishing Heidi along with "tourists" in tow.

In a quick flash, Demetri rushed across from the hallway and entered the musical room of the concealed grand castle, where Larissa, the beautiful siren of the guards, and the object of his devotion, always dwelled.

"Lara?" He called out in a low, voice as to not startle her. He found Larissa clutching firmly into a couple of papers, her eyes carefully scrutinizing each and every word written in the documents, her expression was of disbelief.

She slowly inclined her head to get a full view of him, her robust eyes beseeching.

"Demetri…." She crooned brokenheartedly. "I lost my car."

He blinked unintentionally at the sudden relay of the cause of her impossibly tuneful shriek, however, his lips pulled into a gentle smile.

"Which one?" He inquired; the wood creaked as he made his way to hover behind her to get a view of the papers that had brought a brief moment of unhappiness to his beloved mate.

"The one that Master Aro gave me, the yellow Porsche." She crumpled the papers mightily, and threw it perfectly in an angle that it shot impeccably straight into the wastebasket already full of crumpled papers.

Demetri chuckled, his lips pulled into an assured grin as he wrapped his arms around her curved waists, pulling her coolish body towards his.

She let his exquisite chiseled face nestle on her tender shoulder, a place where he consistently rested his head comfortably. She responded into leaning her head softly against his. Lara lovingly ran her soothing fingers through his dark hair as she started humming a mellow song that she had thought would perfectly fit him.

It was slow… its continuing notes followed one after the other, just as how he finds his targets, just as how he persistently pursued her.

Her song halted, giving way to a moment of silence.

"Silly?"

"Exceedingly so."

They chuckled; the sounds of their laughter seemed to flatter each other. He finally let her go gently and turned her body slowly around, their eyes interlocking.

He kissed her cheek comfortingly before smiling warmly at her.

"We should go, Heidi is about to come back. Besides, I'll purchase a new one for you, heart."

"Thank you." She smiled, her eyes luminous with affection.

Rhythmically, they strode back towards the antechamber, their hands intertwined. Luckily, their "guests" haven't arrived yet.

With a quick bow to the ancients sitting quietly on top of their massive wooden thrones, they settled in a corner beside Felix and Corin. Felix winked teasingly to Demetri as if he had understood what had happened between the two guards. Demetri just shrugged him off apathetically as Lara hushed a giggle.

A realization suddenly hit Larissa, and not wanting to attract attention, she lightly squeezed his rough hand that held hers.

She quietly whispered to him as he tilted his head. "You know, it disappeared in St. Marcus's day, the day when that human Bella Swan stood in front of the masters with her mate, Edward Cullen and his sister Alice."

Demetri was silent, pondering on what that little information might hint.

"You think the incidents are related?" He queried attentively to her. A sly smile made its way to Lara's lustrous lips.

"Maybe."
