Sorry, I'm not quite sure why this one freaked out, but I just barely figured out how to fix it (I hope)
Lets try this again
"Takashi, you asked to see me?" Keith asked hesitantly as he entered Shiro's personal quarters.
"I know you're busy." Shiro didn't look at his brother as he spoke.
"What do you need, Shiro?" When no answer was forthcoming, Keith began panicking. "Shiro?"
"I wanna give you a word of warning."
"Shiro, I don't know what you heard. But whatever it is, Lance started it." Keith clarified, internally planning to strangle the Blue Paladin.
"Lance resigned from piloting the Blue Lion this morning," Shiro said, finally turning to face Keith.
"You're kidding." Keith's facial expression was one of pure shock.
Shiro took a deep breath. "I need a favor"
"Whatever you say, Sir, Lance will pay for his behavior!"
"Shh. Talk less—"
But Keith was on a roll, getting more and more worked up. "I'll use the Blade! I'll fight under a pseudonym, you'll see what I can do to him—"
Shiro tried again. "I need you to calm down."
Keith violently shook his head "No! He resigned. I can finally speak my mind—"
"No, he's stepping down so he can try for The Black Lion."
"Ha," Keith snorted. "Good luck defeating you, Shiro!"
"I'm stepping down. I'm leaving the Black Lion."
Keith froze. "I'm sorry, what?"
Shiro sighed, then took the Red Paladin by the arm. "One last time—relax, have some Nunvill with me. One last time Let's take a break tonight. And then we'll figure out how to say goodbye. You and I"
Keith blinked in disbelief. "No, Shiro, why?"
"I wanna talk about our mission." Shiro said, ignoring Keith's questions.
"Shiro, with the coalition and the empire on the verge of war, is this the best time—"
"I want to warn against partisan fighting.
"But—" Keith tried.
"Pick up your sword, start fighting," Shiro interrupted. "I wanna talk about what I have learned, the hard-won wisdom I have earned."
Keith butted in. "As far as Voltron is concerned
You have to serve, you could continue to serve—"
Shiro cut him off. "No! One last time. The people will hear from me. One last time. And if we get this right, We're gonna teach 'em how to say Goodbye. You and I—"
Keith tried to regain control over his emotions. "Takashi, they will say you're weak."
Shiro shook his head. "No, they will see we're strong."
"Your position is so unique."
"So I'll use it to move them along." Shiro looked into the dark purple eyes of the Red Paladin, trying to convey his message.
"Why do you have to say goodbye?" Keith asked, still not understanding
Shiro sighed and began to explain, choosing his words carefully. "If I say goodbye, the coalition learns to move on; It outlives me when I'm gone. Like the scripture says:
"Everyone shall sit under their own vine and fig tree, And no one shall make them afraid." They'll be safe in the peace we'll make. I wanna sit under my own vine and fig tree—A moment alone in the shade At home in this peace we'll make." Shiro sighed. "One last time."
"One last time," Keith muttered repetitively. His eyes met his mentor's, and the two men hugged.
