Chapter One:
"I don't want to go," Fred mumbled, looking depressed.
"Fred!" whined George. "Come on! At least put on the mask."
Fred reluctantly put on the mask and the hat, which hid his fiery red hair. "Angelina's mad at me, George. I don't want to go if I can't dance with her."
"You know what, I think you should have fun," Lee said. "Please? We are all dressed up like you. Three musketeers, eh?"
"Hmm."
"FRED WEASLEY!" the two boys shouted angrily. "Angelina's not your life!" George snapped. "You can live without her."
~~~Angelina
"Angelina, please dress up. You look beautiful!" Alicia said. "Here, look in the mirror. Put on your mask."
Angelina, dressed in a long purple gown with a matching mask, making her look like a princess, stood there, looking completely unwilling. "Look, if Fred is going to be there, he'll be dancing with all the other girls. He's probably forgotten all about me. I don't want to go if he..."
She sounded so pained that Katie and Alicia glanced at each other, having second thoughts on going. Katie changed that, snapping, "You can live without Fred! He's not your life!"
Angelina looked at her sadly, sitting on her bed. "Don't expect me to dance."
Alicia and Katie grinned at each other, pulling Angelina downstairs with them.
~~~Great Hall, Masked Halloween Dance~~~
Angelina sat down by herself, sipping some sparkling apple cider and smiling when Katie came to sit next to her.
"Fred, Lee, and George dressed up as the three musketeers," Katie said. "Lee and I were just dancing. So, d'you want to dance? Lee wanted to know. He's trying to dance will all his friends."
"Ha, no," Angelina said bluntly. "I'm not dancing."
"Angie," Katie began, but cut herself off when Angelina shook her head quickly.
She sat there by herself for a good hour when a boy around her age walked over. He had everything except his eyes hidden. He bowed over politely, extending a hand and saying, "May I have this dance?"
Angelina found herself saying, "Yes." despite what she had insisted earlier.
They danced for a long slow dance, both quiet for the first minute. "So," he said. "How's the 'masked ball' going for you?"
"Badly." Her statement was blunt, so she quickly amended it. "But I like dancing with you."
"Same here."
They danced in bliss for quite a while. When the slow dance ended, they just stood there in each others arms. She stared at his stunning green eyes, knowing she knew them. She knew them so well that it made her frown when she didn't recognize them.
He knelt down and kissed her. She put her arms more tightly around him, holding him close. When they finally broke the kiss, he whispered, "Can I know who my pretty princess is?"
"Only if I can know my prince. Or, musketeer I suppose."
They both reached up and pulled off their masks. "Fred Weasley," Angelina whispered.
"Angelina."
They stood there, staring at each other. Finally, they both started laughing.
"You stupid dolt!" she said through laughs.
Fred grinned at her. "That was accidental, you know. I was just trying to get my mind off you. I missed you."
"I missed you too." They kissed again. Angelina said, "Fred, look-"
"Angie, I can't live without you. I was told to, but I can't. I love you."
"I can't live without you either."
They didn't share apologies. There was no need. They spent the rest of the night in each others arms, in a peaceful, happy daze.
