Before you say, WEIRDO BEHIND THESE WORDS! YOU'RE AN IDIOT! One you are right, I'm an idiot, I've been told over and over again and somehow I'm in the highest math class, 2 no I'm not depressed no matter how that last sentence was phrased. I'm a special weird child that laughs too much. And 3, this is only a one-shot, for now.
Aelin stood there on the edge of the rock. Her hair that had not been washed in eight months, slightly flowed in the wind. Her hands were clenched at her sides. She was about to lead these thousands maybe even millions of people to their certain death, it was going to be dark, painful and slow.
And worst of all, she couldn't stop their suffering. Not even Yrene could.
She had no way of helping, and if she lived she would always carry that guilt around on her shoulders until she died or took her life from the guilt.
She was still wearing the armor from this mornings training. She was burning more, burning faster, and she was scared.
No one knew how scared she was, except Rowan. And even then all he could do was comfort her.
This rising darkness would consume her. And if she did not stop it, the next person, then the next would fall to it, and the light would be dead.
She started throwing the pebbles she saw throwing them harder and harder.
"Fucking world! Why are you so fucking mean and bitchy! Why ME!" she cried to the wind, repeating the words over and over until they became sobs that shuddered her entire body.
She looked at the edge and wondered if maybe she didn't live, that everything would be okay. Maybe if she just fell over the edge everything would be alright. Maybe darkness would consume her for the last time in her life and she would save everyone like she should have 10 years ago.
