I wrote this because today is august 18th, please read and review.
Disclaimer: I do not own the Percy Jackson series, never have, never will. :(
Today was a day of mourning.
Today was the day when everyone took one moment to remember him.
The greatest hero of all time.
Perseus Jackson.
She sat staring out to the water. The waves came crashing down upon the sand and the moon was reflecting off the water's surface. On this day the waves were always rough. Storms and Earthquakes covered the Earth. She blocked the entire wold out on this day. She only thought of that one person.
It had been two hundred years since the Second Titan War. One hundred and ninety-seven years, Three hundred and thirteen days since he died. She had to keep track otherwise she would forget. And she never forgets. Anything. Ever.
Perseus Jackson had died so that western civilisation would carry on, the Gods would still rule over the world and the giants would be held captive in the depths of Tartarus.
Many others had died for the same purpose. So many familiar names had been sent to hades. Piper. Frank. Will. Connor. Nico. They all gave their lives for the Gods, she remembers them also. But no one as much as Percy.
After the war she felt empty, everyone she had loved left her. She was alone. Never to love again. So she joined the only person who was still there, the only person that still cared about her. She joined the Hunters of Artemis, she swore off men for an eternal life. And she was happy. Eventually. At the start she kept herself to herself, she was broken. The only person in her life that would have made her happy couldn't.
The first fifty years were the hardest for her. She would contemplate life and death, and which one to choose. But Percy wouldn't want her to commit suicide that would just be giving in to all she had fought for all of these years.
As the years went by she didn't celebrate on her birthday, she kept count of how old she was though; she hated not knowing things. She treated everyday as the same, even on Christmas she didn't celebrate with the rest of the Hunters. The only day that was significant to her was the 18th August.
No other day.
In the end she gave up. She died saving her oldest friend in a battle she knew she could not win. She died a hero. She died thinking of Perseus Jackson. And as she slipped into the hands of Hades she heard one voice:
"Annabeth…"
And she knew who it was. It was who she had been waiting for all of this time. Her hero. Percy Jackson.
Hope you all enjoyed it, please review what you think of it :)
