Author's Note:
So this is my first shitty fanfic and I feel incredibly pathetic doing this unironically but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ now go and hopefully enjoy this piece of shit on the internet.
Chapter 1:
Introduction
Nicolas Flamme was born on June 22, 1287, to Vincent Flamme and Aude Bousquet in the northern French town of Limoux, he had two younger brothers, Cyrille and Fábien Flamme.
Their Father, Vincent, had a very hard childhood, his parents died in a bandit raid when he was merely 10 years old, luckily the Mayor took pity on him and adopted him, while this was great Vincent was put to hours of work a day with little time to rest.
Aude had a very protective father and was very rarely let out to play, because of her loneliness she developed an interest in alchemy, her spare time was spent experimenting with Gunpowder her father, who was a general, had brought from the barracks in a little satchel.
But enough on Vincent and Aude and on to their oldest son, Nicolas.
Nicolas had a pretty happy childhood, his mother took good care of him and his brothers, teaching them alchemy whenever she could, though due to Aude being safeguarded by her father like the most precious jewels in the world, Aude was quite loose on her children. While his father was off in the fields working on the Mayor's lands most of the day, in the evening he always came home with a leg of lamb to share with a family. Vincent always felt a bit embarrassed in front of his wife, her being a noblewoman and him being a peasant and all.
The Town in which the Flamme House was located, Limoux was a small town located south of modern day Normandy, with a population of roughly 5,000. The town was the biggest in its close proximity but small compared to other French settlements, it's mayor was Andrés Ferrier. Philippe IV was the current Monarch of France a lot of people doubt his ability to rule the nation since he has been making some alarming changes to the Kingdom since him descending onto the throne at the age of 17, making it more bureaucratic than before. Franco-English relations have also been worsened under Phillipe, some experts say it might even start a war, times are cautious in Europe and a war would be a truly big hit on France and the Flamme Household.
The date was June 20, 1296
Aude was teaching her sons Alchemy, mixing gunpowder with various materials and seeing the effects when the children start yawning. Aude shook her head. „I think that's quite enough for today my children, time for bed." She said sternly and then yawned. The siblings ran off, giggling and blowing gunpowder in each other's faces.
Nicolas' room wasn't very big or decorated, it had a small bed with a desk facing it, on it were lots of papers about alchemy and you could just see a thin layer of gunpowder on everything on the desk.
Nicolas heard a muffled growling sound and looked out the window. It was nearly pitch black out there so all Nicolas could make out was a silhouette of a big dog running away.
