I Am What I Am
Hikari Kianda stood on top of one of the windmills in Azumano, the city she's lived in for as long as she could remember. Her wings fluttered slightly behind her, folded majestically. She was constantly being reborn, only living to serve Dark Mousy and the Niwas. It was a boring life, seeing the world pass by and change, and not being able to do anything about it.
An old, leather book was held tightly in her hands, the book old and worn from years of use. For the past 100 years, Hikari had been trying to find out how to break her curse; serving Dark for eternity.
"A way to break the curse, come on, there has to be a way!" Hikari groaned, flipping through the pages again and again. She saw something in the corner of her eye, and she flipped back to the page. "The only way to break the curse is to be born into the same family as Dark Mousy..." She mumbled to herself, reading the paragraph over and over. She paused, "He's born into the Niwa's blood line...the family I'm forced to serve...so the only way to break it is to become Hikari Niwa..." She realized, nearly dropping the book.
She sighed, searching the pages once more before tossing it carelessly into the ocean, forever to be lost. Hikari opened her wings, flying up into the darkness, before gliding around the city, finally arriving at the Niwa's house. Landing gracefully, she opened the balcony door, and walked into Daiki's room, sitting down on the couch. This life wasn't as bad as her past one's, but it was still horrible. Only Daiki really was nice to her, even Dark wasn't all that nice, and she's been forced to be with him for decades.
She gave a small smile as she saw Daiki sleeping soundly on the couch, sitting up; obviously he'd been waiting for her to come home. "At least someone cares..." she mumbled, easily picking the teenager up, placing him on the bed after cautiously climbing the ladder with him in her arms, she tucked him in, and walked over to the couch, her wings long gone. She sat down, closing her eyes. It was only a matter of time until she would break that curse once and for all, for both her and her love.
"I am what I am...forever cursed to this damned life of servitude." With those words mumbled, Hikari drifted off into a dreamless sleep, curled up on the couch in Daiki's room.
