Right Where He wanted Him

If Danzo had been expecting a reaction, then he would have been sorely disappointed. But he hadn't been expecting one, and never did of his ANBU, this one included.
With this one, it was easy to forget that he was not just another emotionless shinobi.
Danzo waited patiently for Uchiha Itachi to speak, but the boy stayed silent, not even looking at the ANBU Root Leader.
He counted Itachi's fifth read-through of the scroll.
Finally, onyx colored eyes turned back to him, and though they gave away nothing, Danzo could imagine the fierce battle raging just beneath the surface.
"I will need time to consider this," Itachi said tonelessly.
"Of course," Danzo stated, his reply coming to his lips easily and emotionlessly. He wondered, for a moment, why he even aloud the younger nin time to think. Some people would call it was reckless to give him time to change his mind and tell his family of the Konoha elder's plan, but that was only a trivial concern, and it did not bother Danzo in the slightest.
It was silly to give the young shinobi time to think when Danzo already knew what his choice would be. It did not matter if Uchiha Itachi had merely a second to think about his decision or a millennium, he would make the same decision.
But in the end, Danzo knew that it was for that same reason that he allowed such a meaningless thing. He gave Itachi time to think because he knew what lay inside Itachi's heart, and it let him move the boy right where he wanted him.
