They say eyes are the windows to the soul,
That every thought and emotion
Pours itself out through one's eyes.
Yet, when I first saw you,
Your eyes were empty.
Emotionless,
From years of neglect,
I could not see my reflection.
They were hollow, cold, unfeeling,
Just like the mask you hide behind.
Any normal human being
Could hide themselves
As you do,
And their eyes would give them away,
But not you.
Your eyes were not human at all.
Shortly, though, you changed.
Your eyes became confusing,
Showing fear, anger, and hatred;
They pierced my soul,
Threatening my very life.
I should have run from you then,
But your eyes kept me still,
With a love never seen
In anyone's eyes before.
They beckoned me,
Pleaded with me to stay,
As if asking for help.
Your eyes, they adored me,
They showed what your frozen heart
Could not express,
That you loved me,
That you would willingly die for me.
So I stayed,
Against my own good judgment
I stayed.
Now you betray my trust,
Making me choose...
The scorpion or the grasshopper?
Betray one love for another either way...
Yet again, those eyes beckon me,
Those confusing emotions they show,
Yet you cannot express.
A choice I dare not make,
But I must...
What am I to do?
That every thought and emotion
Pours itself out through one's eyes.
Yet, when I first saw you,
Your eyes were empty.
Emotionless,
From years of neglect,
