I am the Boy-Who-Lived
A legend, a hero, a myth
Everyone knows my story
Everyone knows it but me.

I always thought, my place, I knew
My family made quite sure
'Til, eleven, I found it wasn't true
To my story, there was much more
"Ye a wizard, 'arry" the words they came
Turning my whole world upside-down
"There's a wizard ye killed, don't dare him name
Reflecting his curse is ye renown
"On 'alloween, ten years ago
To kill, he came to ye door
Now, ye name, all children know
By living, ye ended the war"

I am the Boy-Who-Lived
A legend, a hero, a myth
Everyone knows my story
But none of them try to know me

Whenever someone new, I meet
The reaction is always the same
Eyes fly high, my scar to seek
As soon as I tell them my name
If I'm lucky, then, in surprise
To my parents, they compare
"You know, you have your mother's eyes
And your father's hair"
From papers, books and rumours wild
They thought all about me they knew
None thought to just check with said child
If any of it is true

I am the Boy-Who-Lived
A legend, a hero, a myth
Everyone knows my story
But none think what the cost was to me

Each Halloween, they celebrate
The ending of the war
But whenever I think of that date
To me, the day means much more
For that day, I, my parents lost
And the life we could have led
They forget victory came at a cost
But I remember the dead
And even now, I'm far from free
My trials have just begun
For Voldemort keeps hunting me
And there's nowhere I can run

I am the Boy-Who-Lived
A legend, a hero, a myth
Everyone knows my story
But the one in the story's not me

All I want is just to be me
