"SIRIUS ORION BLACK, GET YOUR EXTRODANAIRILY LARGE ARSE UP HERE THIS INSTANT!" James yelled from the top of the boys dormitory stairs. He looked disheveled as though he had just looked under the bed of the messiest person alive. He probably had. Lily thought to herself as she saw him. Sirius rushed upstairs as though he knew what had happened.

"What is it Prongsie?!" Sirius snorted exasperated. James stalked up to him grabbed his collar and threw him against the wall.

"Where is it?! I know you have it!" James growled, sounding like Sirius's animagus form and not his own.

"Where's what? I have no idea what you're talking about!" Sirius screamed confused.

"So you have no idea where Lily's engagement ring is!" James yelled looking close to tears. Sirius looked bemused, no big difference there.

"You're going to ask Lily to marry you! Wow, when did that happen?"

"You bloody well know when that happened, Black!" James looked quite demented at this point. Sirius threw his hands up in the air exasperatedly.

"You put it in the safe under Moony's bed, remember?"

A slow smile of remembrance crept slowly across his face.

"Ah yes, thanks old pal."

"D'you mind putting me down now?" Sirius grumbled. James released his collar. Remus rushed in.

"I thought I heard — nah, never mind. It was probably nothing." Sirius and James grinned at each other and walked downstairs, looking as though they had never wanted to kill each other. But before he did, James raced to Moony's bed, grabbed the engagement ring from the safe and then raced down to meet Sirius.

"What was that about?" Lily asked raising an eyebrow looking at the three Marauders (as usual Peter was not there, the rat!). No one gave an answer and she did not expect one. With the Marauders, you usually learned not to expect answers.

"Lily, could I talk to you a second?" James asked, looking nervous.

"Sure," she replied and they walked outside to the lake. As they were walking around it James kept fidgeting and playing with his glasses. Finally Lily had enough of it.

"James what's up? Why so nervous? I haven't seen you this way since you broke up with Marlene McKinnon!" She suddenly gasped. "Oh no! You're not breaking up with me are you?" She looked so hurt it broke James' heart.

"Of course not, quite the opposite actually," he mumbled. Lily looked intrigued. "Well what I wanted to ask you is willyoumarryme?" It came out in a rush.

"What?" Lily asked, confusedly.

"Okay, let me try again." He got down on one knee in front of Lily.

"The first time I saw you I knew it. I knew that you were the one. In the beginning it was a game for me. You were the only one who really rejected me. But by fifth year I was deeply in love with you. Just ask Remus and Sirius I never stopped talking about you. You were and always will be the only one for me. Lillian Evans I love you more than life its self will you marry me?"

Lily by then was so overcome with tears that she could barely see.

"Of course I'll marry you James! How could I not!" Lily practically screamed her answer. And from then on the rest is history.
