"Well... I've never kissed a girl before."
The red-head just stared at the albino. "Oh-kay. What about a guy?"
"No, I've never kissed a boy before either." Near replied.
"Which would you prefer?"
"Matt! Why are you asking me all these questions?" Near was blushing fiercely. He was looking anywhere but his interviewer.
"Because I'm curious. Now answer it!" Matt laughed.
"I... I don't know..."
"If I gave you an option, wouldya take it?" Matt pressed.
"I don't know. Can we stop now, Matt?" Near finally looked at the gamer. His whole expression screamed 'Awkward Situation!'. He looked away again.
"No, Near. Now answer my questions...Please."
"Yes, I would take it." Near sighed, giving in. He finally brought his grey eyes back to meet Matt's green ones, only to find that they were inches from his. The green eyes closed as Matt's lips touched Near's. Near gasped. Matt took this chance to slip his tongue into the albino's mouth. Surprisingly, Near responded. It was if instinct took over, because Near was possibly the best kisser Matt had come across in his time at Wammy's. Infact...
Near was better than Mello.
Just another thing Near was better than Mello at. Matt felt himself smiling into the kiss. He pushed Near down so he was lying on the floor. He climbed onto of him. Near's face was now bright red.
"Matt..." Near broke the kiss.
Matt blinked at him. "Yes?"
"That was unexpected."
"No, it wasn't. You just weren't picking up on the hints." Matt laughed softly and it tickled Near's cheek.
"Hints?" Near thought back over every conversation they'd had over the past two weeks. He wasn't finding anything to suggest this. Actually, he wasn't finding anything even worth taking note of or unusual. Nothing had changed in Matt or how they spoke to each other in the past while. Maybe he'd been 'hinting' for so long that Near just saw that normal and hadn't taken notice. If his face could go any redder, it would have.
"Jeez, Near," Matt laughed. "You're people skills are... lacking."
"Shut up" Near retorted.
"Oh, real professional" Matt rolled his eyes. "I love you, Near."
The words hit Near like a ton of Lego. 'I love you'. Surely, he would have seen that. How could he not have seen that? He wasn't sure how he felt about the boy lying on top of him. He liked Matt: Matt was one of his very few friends (Mello being the other). But he didn't know if he felt as strongly for Matt as Matt did for him. He didn't want to hurt Matt. He wanted to say something in return. Even if it wasn't 'love', more like 'really like'...
... But he couldn't.
