"We've seen a lot of sunsets, but this one puts them all to shame." Xion beamed as she looked out towards the sunset. I smiled happily, and slipped my hand onto hers. On some of my recon missions, I observed couples doing it, and anyways, it felt right for the moment. "Huh?" she said as she turned from the evening light. Even in the rapidly fading illumination, I could see she blushed visibly. "Roxas, that was kind of weird."
"Oh…well… I just feel happy that we're together. I've seen other people do it."
"I see."
She looked at me and said, "That's nice." We waited in silence. Then she spoke again and said, "I've seen other people do this." And before I could act, she kissed me lightly on the cheek. I felt myself blush, and Xion smiled slyly. "You're so cute when you're embarrassed!" I grinned sheepishly, and kissed her back.
Axel smirked. "What a couple of lovebirds." He had the urge to walk out and startle his two friends, but he decided against it. He grinned as he made his way down the clock tower, thinking, "They don't need hearts. They're just fine without them."
Later that day, Roxas read off my sea salt ice cream stick. It boldly proclaimed 'WINNER.'
"I certainly feel like one…" he whispered to himself, touching his cheek, reminding himself…
Roxas brought his hand abruptly to his cheek, his face coloring in swiftly. "What is it?" Axel asked. "Nothing…" he replied, as his face went back to its normal shade. "Just a…kinda weird feeling, that's all." That night, he dreamt of a dark haired girl with blue eyes kissing him under the fading light of a perfect sunset.
