I had agreed, but watching them say their goodbyes, I was overcome with doubt. She was flying home alone, and Jack was the person she trusted the most in the world.

Sun was faintly smiling. She closed her eyes as a tear threatened to fall. He stopped it with a gentle thumb, and hugged her one last time. She waved as we walked away.

"Kate?" He barely whispered, fooled by my pretending to sleep. "I love you."
