A short one-shot that I came up with after watching 'The Beach' and 'Sozin's Comet'.

In the darkness of Alcatraz, three teenagers looked solemnly at a large holding cell. The oldest, an eighteen year old boy with dark shaggy hair and bright amber eyes, stepped forward, his royal Fire Nation robes dragging across the ground. One of the two other companions, both girls and complete opposites, put her hand to stop the boy. Her face was hard and stony.
"Zuko," She said in monotonous voice, eyes steely. "Are you sure? You don't know what your sister is capable of." Zuko shook his head, gently prying the girl's hand away.
"Mai, it's alright. Just keep an eye on Ty Lee and… make sure she doesn't end up drowning all of us." He said, eyeing the other girl with long brown hair and bright pink clothes that stood out on the dreary backdrop of the prison. Instead of her usual cheery disposition, she was covering her head in her hands and her shoulders were shaking. She was saying something, but Zuko couldn't make out the words. Mai looked Zuko in the eyes before backing off and putting her arm around her best friend's shoulders.
As Zuko approached, a guard stopped him before looking up. "My apologies, Fire Lord." The guard bowed respectfully. Zuko repressed the urge to roll his eyes. "I assume you are here to see your… sister, Princess Azula? I must warn you, her conditions aren't quite up to normal, but she can Firebend, so she is a dangerous enemy." The guard said, unlocking the large metal door that led to a large spacious room. Zuko stepped in and the guard locked the door behind him.
"Zuzu, so nice of you to visit. It's been awhile." A quiet voice said. There was a small cot off to the side and a chair that faced the opposite way. Zuko hadn't noticed before but now that he looked around, he saw that the metal walls were scorched into designs and figures.
Zuko closed his eyes and took a deep breath before speaking. It had been a long time, Zuko concluded, just two years ago Azula had been bent on taking Zuko's life and now she sat, helpless, weak. Yes, she still had her Firebending, but Zuko was positive he could deflect anything she tried to throw at him with ease. "Yes, Azula, it has."
"I was beginning to wonder if you would ever come." She said, voice hard. "Or if you would just leave me here to rot as you have Father. I doubt you've visited him since the day you asked about Mother." Zuko betrayed no emotion, but his insides were tightening. How could Azula possibly know about any of that? She had been shipped to the mental facility off the Coast of Ember Island when that had taken place. She couldn't, unless… "Mai and Ty Lee are just outside, aren't they? Couldn't come in and face me after their betrayal?"
"Azula," Zuko began. The chair scraped across the ground and a shadowy figure advanced. Zuko could say that nothing had changed from the last time her had seen his sister, when her sanity had finally slipped, but something had. Her hair had grown, looking as if it hadn't ever been cut; her gold eyes looked dull and disturbing. She walked nimbly and gracefully.
"I don't take kindly to those that betray me, Zuzu. Mai, Ty Lee, you. Once I free myself from here, I will personally oversee your execution. Doubt me if you wish, but that will be your first mistake. And I will get out." The Princess growled.
Zuko studied her for a moment, before backing up and pushing open the door. Guards gathered around, at the ready. Zuko turned to Mai and Ty Lee, face mixed with fury and surprise. Azula had people from the inside. Any one of those guards could be working with her.
Zuko led the way out of Alcatraz, the whole while, Azula's maniacal laughter dogged behind him.
