Okay, here we go!! I've wanted to write this for a while, but haven't had time. I'm trying to type as much as I can before the next season starts. If I don't finish it before then, just keep reading…

Carter slouched against the backseat of the taxi, which, considering the traffic, still didn't seem to be moving fast enough. Several times came where, for a split-second, he thought of just pushing the door open and running home to Abby, where everything would be okay again.

His anxiety built up to an extremity as the cab slowed down in front of her building. He wouldn't have even thought about paying the cabbie if he hadn't said anything as he unconsciously scoped out the door handle. He leaped out and tried to run to the door. He wanted to with everything, but was too tired, too shaken up from the shock that the Congo had injected within him.

Walking to her door felt like it had taken years. He slowly put his key in the lock as he held his breath. When it opened, he staggered in and put his bag down. He felt overwhelming relief just walking in. He raced to her bedroom and uneasily began to turn the knob. He momentarily panicked. Would she be there?

"Abby." He slowly exhaled and closed his eyes. He had thought about her in his every waking moment, and he was finally here. Now, he really felt secure.

Before he knew it, he had gently kissed her forehead. She looked so beautiful, so absolutely, indescribably perfect.

He felt a lump start to grow in his throat. He had made mistakes; he made too many of them in his lifetime. When did I become worthy of having her?

He shakily sat at the foot of her bed and stared at her. Maybe she didn't want him back. Maybe it was stupid to think that he should have come here. Maybe even back to Chicago.

"Oh, Abby," He whispered. He couldn't help from starting to softly move his hand along her arm, receiving an extremely sobering feeling from it.

And suddenly, he knew. Coming back was right.
