"Ah am surprised to see you still here."
Vin shrugged, sipping blood. "Ain't much to celebrate."
Ezra's surprise increased at Vin's declaration. "Ah admit that our country is nowhere near as grand as she was in our century, but we still persist in our independence."
"For what good it does. Looked at the news lately, Ez? I swear it's gettin' easier an' easier to get a free meal offa the street wit' all the killings, rapings, an' drugs going on."
"Maybe," Chris agreed as he walked in, "but you're still going to the fireworks. We don't celebrate what is; we celebrate what was."
