Bright Eyed and Bushy Haired.

Part of the "Fluffy Bunny" challenge in the HPFC forum. : ) Hermione is insanely out of character. Don't flame me on her OoCness.

Disclaimer: -ponders- No, not mine.

Hermione Granger sat on the dock, her feet hanging over the side of the wooden block and into the cool water. She reached down and submerged her hand into the cool pool of wet. Grinning, she lifted her wet hand out of the water and splashed herself with the droplets on her fingers. She tasted the salt droplet on her tongue from the salty ocean water.

She licked the drop off of her top lip. Hoisting herself up, she kneeled over and put her two hands into the water. Pulling her cupped hands out of the water, she looked at the little pool in her hands. She watched the miniature waterfall fall back into the perfect water, rippling the smooth as glass surface. She reached her hands down again, she pulled up another cup of water. Pursing her lips, she placed them in the water. She sucked the water into her mouth, swallowing. The loud slurps ruined the perfect serenity of the summer day.

Reaching down again, she put her arms too deep into the water. She lost her balance. As a child, she had never had any swimming lessons. She couldn't swim at all. She fell into the water with a splash. Struggling, she wriggled around under the water. She didn't know which way was up or which way was down. She was starting to get dizzy. She started to swim. It seemed like it was the right way, it really did. She swam and swam. Her jeans got hooked on an old nail. Hermione pulled the leg of her denim pants. It was stuck. Hermione tried to take her pants off and swim to the top.

Everything went black. Hermione was barely conscious. She heard the water rushing around her ears. She could hear her heartbeat slowing. She could feel herself getting dizzy. She just wanted to sleep. Maybe she could give into the nagging sleepy sensation. She tried not to let her eyes drift closed. She tried to keep them open. Just long enough for her prince to save her.

She caved. She fell asleep, taking a deep breath in. She felt her lungs filling with the salty water. She didn't care any more. She felt heavy one last time and then she fell limp.

What a shame. This time, there was no cute savior. No Prince Charming. No nothing. Just her, forever decaying at the bottom of the ocean.
