AN: Ok, so I know it's pretty lame of me to start another story while I have like, five that need updating, but this thing is more of a little excercise to get me back into the flow of writing, considering I haven't for quite some time. I also know it's late for a Christmas fic, but whatever, just enjoy. Haha. Also, I know that this isn't up to my usual standards for 'No Kisses' especially, but I'm getting back into it, so bare with me.

Chapter I- Life Is a Perception of Your Own Reality

.: Maybe, just maybe, life would be everything we want it to be :.

It was the final stretch before Christmas break, and everyone knew, (hell it was universally acknowledged), that the last place a teenager, or kid of any age, wanted to be was at school. Unfortunately, teachers seemed to be the only lifeform in the galaxy who didn't get the memo.

This gloomy thought was on constant cycle through Uzumaki Naruto's mind as he sat at his cramped little desk, drumming his fingers on the hard, wood top. Blue eyes darted everywhere except for the poor soul attempting in vain to explain the relevance of a parabola in everyday life. (The only answer he ould actually think of was if you happened to be an architect, which in fact was very irrelevant to many of the students in his grade 10 math class.) Just about everyone in the room had managed to tune the man out, even the usually ace students had grown tired of his constant babble.

Finally, realizing he had lost the battle for their attention, Mr. Watsuki relented and dismissed them then minutes early. There was mass chaos for several moments while the students packed p their stuff and charged out the door, worried their teacher's sudden generosity would wear off at any moment and they would be called back.

"Freedom!" the blond whooped and pumped his fist in the air as soon as he breached the hallways, the shaggy-haired brunet behind him nodded, smiling wolfishly. A popped out of one of the adjacent classrooms, frowning disapprovingly at the loud outburst, Naruto simply smirked and stuck out his tongue at the bespeckled young woman, who promptly retracted her head.

The hall had cleared of students as Naruto and companion, (15-year-old Inuzuka Kiba, resident canine enthusiast and Naruto's best friend), walked confidently towards the main exit, peeking into random rooms along the way.

The blond stopped in front of one particular doorframe, blowing a kiss towards the smiling pink-haired girl inside. She playfully 'caught' the kiss and winked, motioning that she would be out in two minutes. Naruto nodded and mouthed: 'I'll be waiting', earning him another smile.

Turning back to face Kiba, he was greeted with a pair of incredulous brown eyes.

"Man, I'll never get how you managed to get with her," Kiba admonished, shaking his head slightly. Naruto just grinned and pressed a finger to his lips in a 'hush-hush" gesture, leaning in as though to tell a secret.

"It's because she wants my body," he laughed as Kiba shoved him away, looking disgusted.

"I definitely did not need to know that," the brunet gagged, "What you do with your girlfriend is your own business."

"And just what have you been telling people we do behind closed doors?" a voice asked and Naruto jumped slightly when a small hand laid itself on his shoulder. A kiss was placed on his cheek just a moment later.

"Sakura..." the blond breathed, turning to face his girlfriend and planting a proper kiss on her lush, pink lips. He slung an arm over her shoulder and they both turned to face Kiba who was rolling his eyes dramatically.

"Cut it out with the PDA!" the brunet grumbled, eyebrow raised and arms crossed firmly over his chest.

"Oh shut it," the blond snarked, shoving Kiba lightly.

Wanting to change the subject before the playful jibes became more personal, Sakura quickly stepped in: "Aren't we supposed to meet Neji sometime soon?" she asked, batting her long eyelashes sweetly. Naruto paused, looking thoughtful for a moment, before nodding.

"Yeah, we have to meet his new boyfriend," the blond added, the look on his face showed just what he thought of that. It wasn't that he was homophobic, it's just that he couldn't quite understand how anyone could find a man attractive, let alone another man. I mean, why choose a guy when you could have a girl? But, since he wouldn't complain about a straight girl, then what right did he have to complain about a gay guy?

"I'm pretty excited, he's supposed to be a total cutie!" Sakura squeaked, covering her mouth with both her hands, her emerald eyes had gone wide and shiny. Kiba rolled his eyes skyward.

"Honestly, I wouldn't go if it wasn't Neji, it's was too fucking cold for this," the brunet complained- it was supposed to snow up to six inches that night, almost a Konoha record.

"Let's just get this over with."

"So is this some sort of threesome thing or what?" Naruto asked.

When they were told they were meeting Neji's boyfriend, they had only been expecting one- note the lack of an 's' at the end of 'boyfriend'. But anyone would be able to tell you there were two boys standing before them, (not counting Neji himself, of course) - one was short and red-headed, his bright green eyes surrounded by a thin trail of eyeliner, the second was just as petit, but instead of fiery red, his hair was of the darkest black, the same shade as his eyes. Both of their cheeks were painted a light rose from both the cold and Naruto's accusation.

"Of course not," their pale-eyed friend scoffed, "This-" he began, slinging his arm over the redhead's shoulders, "-is Sabaku Gaara, my boyfriend. This-" he gestured to the darker teen, "- is Uchiha Sasuke, his best friend."

There was a sharp intake of breath as the second name was spoken and Sakura jumped forward to barrade the dark-haired boy with questions: "Wow, are you really Sasuke Uchiha? Like, from the Uchihas? The Akatsuki Record Label Uchihas?" she gasped, clutching her hands over his chest, her eyes glittering in awe and amazement. Naruto felt a stab of jealousy at the attention his girlfriend was showing to this near stranger.

Sasuke frowned and shifted uncomfortably under the girl's fierce scrutiny, his left eye twitched in irritation. Unaware of the Uchiha's discomfort, the cherry blossom prattled on about her current favourite band, who happened to be signed to the Akatsuki label.

"Sakura, stop, he doesn't speak much," Neji stepped in, sparing Sasuke and further aggravation.

Naruto smirked, "What? He's a mute?" The pale-eyed teen opened his mouth to answer, but was interrupted before he got the chance-

"No, I'm not, but from my evaluation of your intelligence, perhaps you should be," Sasuke snarked, glaring daggers at the slack-jawed blond.

"How the fuck can you 'evaluate my intelligence'? I've only said five words to you!" Naruto raged, resisting the urge to wipe that smug smirk off the Uchiha's face bodily. Sasuke simply sighed; "You needn't hear someone speak to grade their intelligence. I simply took in the vacant look on your face, the slouched position in which you're standing and your obvious inability to formulate a decent comeback, and got a pretty good idea of it."

Naruto bristled, his face turning a rather unflattering shade of magenta as both Kiba and Neji fought to contain their laughter.

"Wow, you're a really good judge of character," Kiba said, clearly impressed. This got Neji going again and even Gaara cracked a small smile, Sakura just put a hand on her sulking boyfriend's shoulder, squeezing gently. He smiled weakly at her, before hardening his gaze and returning it to the once again uninterested Uchiha.

"Well, this has been fun and all, but I've gotta run before my balls freeze off," Kiba lamented, eloquent as ever. Neji nodded inagreement, pulling Gaara closer to his side and rubbing his hand up and down the petit redhead's arm.

"Yeah, c'mon Naruto, it's getting late," Sakura added, still trying to take the blond's mind off of his recen defeat. Naruto simply nodded, allowing himself to be dragged off.

"I hate him so much!" Naruto raged a little while later, jamming his fists deeper into his pockets. His breath came out in angry puffs of white mist and his feet kicked at the small snowdrifts blocking his path. To his right was Sakura, her face was buried in her rose-coloured scarf, so when she spoke it was slightly muffled.

"Don't worry about it, odds are we wont really have to hang around with him too often. It's not like he's Neji's boyfriend," she reasoned, trying to avoid breathing in the frigid air around them.

"We better not, next time I see him I'm not sure I can stop myself fom socking him," the blond growled, seeing Sakura shiver and pulling one of his hands out of the warmth of his pocket and draping it over her shoulders.

"Thanks," she smiled, snuggling into his side, and putter her own arm around his waist.

A contented smile spread across Naruto's rosy face and he sighed, feeling all the tension leave his body.

This is the life...

Alrighty, -sighs- that was harder than it probably should have been. I wrote this while bored in my math class. So don't expect too much. Though this was just an intro chapter, from now on it'll get longer and more interesting, that is, if you want me to continue.

Review and let me know: is this worth continuing? Or scrap?
