Everybody's Fool
Just a really quick songfic I wrote while listening to Evanescence. It's about Harry, I changed the pronouns in the song. I think it's from Ginny's POV, but I'm not really sure. Harry's not the prefect saviour everyone thinks he is. I suggest you listen to the song "Everybody's Fool" while reading as we are no longer allowed to put lyrics in.
They never saw him. They saw the Boy-Who-Lived, not Harry. They never bothered to look behind the mask, never bothered to look for the real person. What would they do when his mask was gone? He wasn't the perfect saviour everyone wanted him to be. Even I had thought he was perfect. He wasn't. I'll never forget that day, the day I found him in the bathroom, a razor held over his arms. Somehow, he'd betrayed me, betrayed me by not being who I thought he was.
He came slowly into the common room, mask firmly in place. His friends ran over to him, worried about him, asking why it took so long. It sickened me to see how they blindly followed him, loved him. They couldn't see how weak he was, how flawed. I don't know how he'd fooled everyone, but he wouldn't be able to fool me again. What would he do when they found out? Run, hide? He would hide, I was sure of it. He couldn't cope with real life. I sometimes wondered how intact his sanity was. He was lost, drifting. I knew the truth now. I wasn't going to hide it. I knew exactly what sort of a hero he was. He wasn't a hero at all. I didn't love him anymore.
