A Moment for a Miracle
CHAPTER 1: INSTANT
Fang's POV-
I was at the dance with my friends almost an hour ago. It really wasn't all that fun, considering we were just waiting for this kid, Ari, to show up. He was a freshman that really wanted to gain popularity like a lot of people do, but he was willing to go farther than some for it. We all were at one point, and so that's why we're at this stupid factory of some sorts, waiting for him.
"Sam, come on let's go back to the dance!" Lissa whined. She's Sam's girlfriend, and my ex-girlfriend. I did what Ari was going to do for her so she could gain popularity. Then she broke up with me right after for Sam. It sounds so unplanned and definitely not slutty, right? Please, take note of my sarcasm.
"No. We're gonna wait for this kid, watch him do something stupid, and laugh our asses off while he does it. Got it?" Even though they were going out, Sam treated Lissa like crap. I could care less, though. She deserved it.
"Fine," she pouted.
"Guys, are you sure we should be doing this? I mean, it's not like he's going to be showing up any time soon, we've been waiting here for almost a whole hour! Let's go to the mall! Ooooooh, I love shopping! Let's go now. It's not like we can't do this some other time, so maybe we should-" ah Iggy, the blind wonder of the group, and my best friend. He kissed Nudge to shut her up. Genius. Needless to say they were dating.
Finally, Ari came into the parking lot, riding on his bike.
"Jeeze, dude! How fast were you goin'? Ten freaking miles an hour?!" That was Sam in case some of you haven't caught on to his lack of manners.
"I was riding as fast as I could…"
"So you couldn't have ridden faster! You've just wasted an hour of my time when I could be doing over things!" Did I mention he has anger issues? No? Well now you know.
Sam started walking toward the pond outside the factory, Lissa in tow. Iggy and Nudge followed suit after each giving Ari a reassuring smile. I stayed back and waited for him to catch up.
"Don't worry," I told him. I really don't say much, although I think a lot.
"It's kind of hard not to. What are you guys even gonna make me do?" he was looking at the ground as he walked, and he kept running his hands through his light brown hair. It was easy to see he was nervous.
"Jump into the pond."
"Oh. That shouldn't be too difficult, right?"
"You'll be jumping from there. Watch out for the pipes."
I watched as his face fell leaving him looking absolutely terrified. The ledge was about as high up as a high diving platform, and the large pipes underneath the water were visible and shallow. It probably wouldn't kill anyone, but it would seriously injure anyone who accidentally hit the pipes.
"It's alright Ari, really. All you have to do is miss the pipes. It's actually pretty easy-"
"How would you know Nudge! You never even jumped it! I never make girls do it! Besides, Iggy jumped it for you…" Sam said with an evil sneer. He then looked at Iggy. "So Iggy, was it really that easy?"
Iggy looked a little nervous as he remembered his own enounter with the pipes. The damage to his skull took away his sight. "Good luck," he said as he walked even faster toward the base o the platform. Ari's eyes widened, but he kept walking.
When we got to the platform, Ari tried not to look scared as he climbed the ladder, but it was plainly written on his face anyway just how freaked he was. He paused at the top, then took a running start and jumped off. His arms and legs flailed as he screamed on his way down. He was going to hit one of the pipes.
"Oh my God! He's gonna hit the pipes! He's gonna-" Nudge never got to finish. The shock stopped all sound except for the splash.
But Ari never hit the pipe.
