Tamaki's heart was a shaded rose.
A rose, unable to attain the sunlight of the open window, hidden away in the darkness. A rose, longing for one thing in life, and only one thing: to love, and be loved back.
Every day, he would go to the 3rd Music Room, and hide his rose away. He would laugh and flirt with the pretty girls who come to the Host Club, and flash each of them a smile.
But as beautiful as it was, his smile was always fake. And then his rose starts to lose its petals, and begins to wilt.
His parents have always treated him with kindness, love and generosity. But he knew that one day, their love would also slowly fade. And his rose begins to lose its colour, its ruby-red hue draining to a pale grey.
He was ready to give up hope of ever finding someone who would tend to his dying rose…
Until a small, brown-haired girl with eyes of chocolate came into his life.
She was the bearer of joy, of everyone's affections, a special someone who looks through your heart without realizing it. She was the one who brought in sunlight to Tamaki's rose, and slowly let it grow. She was the one who brought in the rain, and made sure it had water to live.
He was unsure at first, his thorns protecting him from this dweller of happiness, as he thought of ways to escape from this love he didn't ask for. But his rose continually grew, and his sharp thorns began to dull from the feelings that pierced him.
Then, he began to fall.
The rose, his rose, cried out for sun, and she shined it upon him. His rose cried out for water and she gave it to him, careful to give him enough and not too much. Then, his rose selfishly asked for love.
And she gave him her heart, her rose, and returned his love.
Tamaki's heart, his rose, only wished for one thing. His wish seemed impossible to fulfill, his rose almost impossible to save. But someone saved it, and gave Tamaki his only wish in life: to love, and to be loved in return.
