In this dream, they're always together. Not having sex, not in this dream, although sometimes that's what happens in other dreams. Not kissing or touching, or even looking at each other. But they're always together. Luna always feels Ginny's presence, strong and brave and true, beside her, supporting her, keeping her standing.

In the dream, she's standing over her father's grave, and watching them lower his coffin into the warm ground. The earth is so warm and the air is so cold that it's like the grave is breathing steam into the air. She feels the heat of the earth and the cold of the air and the wetness of her tears on her face all at once, and the only thing keeping her from flying into a million tiny pieces is Ginny, silent and still beside her, standing close enough that Luna could hear the redhead's pulse if she really wanted to.

In this dream, the next thing that happens is that Ginny touches her arm lightly, two fingers, so soft that Luna almost doesn't feel it. With that touch, Luna doesn't feel like she's shattering anymore. But when she turns to thank Ginny, she sees Harry striding towards them, and Ginny runs to him, and Luna feels herself shatter again.

Every time this dream happens, Luna wakes with a start, turns to see Ginny sleeping, silent and strong, beside her. Sometimes she wakes up the sleeping woman, begs for reassurance that this isn't a fling, isn't a phase, that Ginny will stay. More often, Luna nuzzles against Ginny's chest, and they curl up together until Luna's fear is gone and she is sleeping again, dreaming some other dream.
