Have some Lunch
He stared dumbly as she plopped down across the desk where he sat and took out her white lunchbox with colored flowers printed on it. Flashing her trademark smile, Orihime looked at Ishida and waved eagerly though they were right across from each other.
"Ishida-kun! What do you have for lunch? I have mochi and tempura today! Tatsuki came over yesterday and brought some panko and vegetables so we make tempura while watching Don Kanonji!" Orhime sang this out as if she and Ishida had always done this and curiously leaned over to peek at what his lunch was.
"I have salmon and rice; Inoue-san, why aren't you eating with Tatsuki or Ichigo, Sado and Rukia?" Ishida's small chiding was gentle but delicately laced with slight concern as he answered Orihime's question and asked his own.
" We just had PE class and we ran so many laps! I didn't want to walk across the school to the courtyard to eat so I decided to eat with Ishida-kun today! Ishida-kun never eats with us… so I decided to eat lunch with Ishida-kun instead!" She smiled proudly as she explained her carefully thought out plan to Ishida.
"I see, thank you Inoue-san."
Ishida's usually quiet and uneventful lunch turned into an absurd conversation between different condiments and vegetables as Orihime played with her lunch all the while laughing at Ishida's flustered expression.
" Go Mr. Carrot! Dive into the tempura sauce and save the piece of cucumber! Ishida-kun, Ishida-kun! Try some of this mochi! It's green tea flavored!" Orihime deftly pried open Ishida mouth and popped the sweet in. Watching intently, Orihime sternly made sure Ishida chewed every bite and swallowed it while Ishida blushed and obediently chewed.
" It's very delicious Inoue-san"
" Isn't it! Next time I'll bring more for us to share!"
Ishida smiled gently at Orihime and nodded in approval. As they sat together for lunch, one quietly eating while the other filled in conversation enough for both of them, they both knew there were content with this arrangement.
