Annabeth's pov
"Where did he just come from?" Hazel asked and nodded at the Cyclops, they'd just defeated. "You should think that we would be able to see and hear a monster like that kilometers away when you're in a city like New York."
Frank leaned against one of the cars. "Some of them must be smarter than others."
"But being so smart that they can sneak up on us? That's seriously rare," Jason said and walked over to Piper and put an arm around her neck.
"Yeah, I hope you're right, Jason," Leo said. "That Cyclops almost destroyed my belt!"
Percy gazed around the street as if he was afraid that there'd other monsters hiding, waiting to attack.
"Relax, Percy. I don't think any monsters would dare to attack us right now." Annabeth reassured him.
"I hope you're right," he said. "But I still think that we should get moving."
Jason nodded. "I agree with him."
Annabeth had to admit that it would be most dangerous if they stayed one place for a too long time, so all seven started to walk down the street.
Suddenly Percy froze. Annabeth followed his gaze, but she couldn't figure out what he was looking at.
"Percy," Annabeth murmured. "Are you okay?"
"Percy!" Someone called, and a beautiful girl with caramel colored hair came running towards them.
"What is she doing here?" Percy asked himself.
The girl gave Percy a hug. "Gods! I never thought I would see you again!"
Percy gave Annabeth a quick worried look. Then he looked at the girl. "Hi, Calypso."
Annabeth froze. Calypso? Wasn't she supposed to be on her island? Few years ago Percy had stranded at Calypso's island, while Annabeth thought Percy was dead.
Leo, Jason and Frank all three looked at Calypso with disbelief. It was so clear that they all three thought that she was hot. Piper and Hazel were just frowning.
"What … ehm … what are you doing here?" Percy asked Calypso.
"Don't you remember that you told the gods to stop punishing me? Well, they chose to listen to you."
Annabeth clenched her teeth. She already hated that girl. Percy gave Annabeth another worried look as she walked over to Percy's side and put an arm around him.
Annabeth nodded coldly at Calypso as a salute. "Hi, I'm Annabeth."
"You're Annabeth?" Calypso asked and looked from Annabeth to Percy. Her face looked disappointed. "Wow, she's beautiful, Percy. I can see why you like her."
Annabeth gave Calypso a halfhearted smile. "Thanks."
Calypso kept looking at Percy. "The flower," she said. "Did you remember to plant it?"
Percy nodded. "Yes, I did. It's still blooming every year."
"Good."
Jason, Leo (who looked like a puppy in love), Piper, Frank and Hazel all stood watching in silence.
Calypso looked down the street. "I should get going." She hugged Percy again and kissed him on both his cheeks. "Hopefully I'll see you again."
Then she walked away.
Annabeth looked at Percy. "She's beautiful."
"Are we going to go through that again, Annabeth?" Percy asked. "If I wanted to stay with her I would've stayed, okay?"
Despite Percy's words, Annabeth could still see some longing in his eyes.
"How is it possible not to wanna stay with her?" Leo asked whining.
Percy frowned. "Well …"
Leo kept going on: "I can't believe you didn't stay!"
Then Piper punched him in the chest. "Shut it, Repair Boy."
Percy could apparently see how worried Annabeth was, because he kissed her and said: "Don't worry, please. She's not getting between us."
