I wrote this last night after I was watching "Big Hero 6" and making dinner. I only own Rachel, Sparkle, Tina, Sasha, and Amy. "Big Hero 6" belongs to Disney and Ben 10 belongs to Cartoon Network and Man Of Action.

The Pain Of Losing Someone Never Really Goes Away

Rachel sighed as she peeked into the living room and saw Sparkle and Tina watching the movie "Big Hero 6" and giggling over it. She smiled at their giggles, but then her smile left her face as she moved back into the kitchen. Sparkle noticed her aunt seemed to be sad.

"Tina, can we pause the movie? I want to see what Auntie Rachel's doing," she said.

"Sure," said Tina. "I'm going to go find Dad and Mom. Maybe they're done their paperwork and can join us."

Nodding, Sparkle headed off to the kitchen and saw her aunt making Sheppard's Pie for dinner. "Auntie, are you okay?" she asked.

Rachel smiled as she turned to her four-year-old niece. "I'm fine, honey," she said. "Why do you ask?"

Sparkle shrugged. "You seem…sad," she said.

The owner of the Grant Mansion smiled again. "I was just thinking, sweetie," she said.

"What are you making?" asked the small Conductoid.

"Sheppard's Pie," said Rachel. "One of my favorites. I think everyone will enjoy it."

"Do you think Daddy would let me have some?" Sparkle asked hopefully.

Her aunt chuckled. "You'd have to ask him, sweetie," she said and watched her run out to find her father. Smiling, she turned back to making dinner.

Feedback had just come out of his room and saw Sparkle running up to him just moments before she jumped up to him and he instinctively caught her, chuckling. "Whoa, there!" he said with a laugh.

"Daddy, Auntie's making Sheppard's Pie. Do you think I could have some?" his daughter asked excitedly.

Laughing warmly, Feedback walked downstairs holding his daughter in his arms. "Let Daddy see what's in it and then he'll let you know. Okay, pumpkin?" he said, giving her a kiss on the forehead.

"Okay, Daddy! Love you!" said Sparkle, kissing her father on the cheek before he set her down and she scampered off to the living room where Tina was with Snare-Oh and Amy and was about to continue the movie. Chuckling, he moved into the kitchen and saw Rachel at the stove, mashing up potatoes. She then let out a sad sigh that he picked up on.

"Hey, everything okay, Rach?" he asked.

She smiled. "I'm fine, Feedback," she said. "Just thinking."

"About what?" he asked her, coming up behind her and placed a hand on her back, rubbing her back as he watched her mash the potatoes.

"My dad," she admitted. "The movie the girls are watching brought back some memories."

"The "Big Hero 6" one?" he asked.

She nodded. "It's the movie Sasha and I watched when it was the one-year anniversary of our dad's death," she said. "It brought back some other memories."

"The good times with your father?" Feedback asked.

Rachel nodded again. "Yes," she said. "And then the memories of him being sick. Whenever we wanted to do something fun together, he had to rest up for it, because then right after, he'd be so tired for days. I think whenever we used to go to fairs, the movies, and that, he was still tired, but he did for me and Sasha."

Feedback nodded. "You miss him," he said gently as he placed a hand on her shoulder. "I know I never met him, but I can tell he was a good man."

Rachel looked at him. "How can you tell?" she asked.

He smiled. "Because he raised two very beautiful, very thoughtful, very kind, and very brave girls," he said. "You and Sasha have both grown into young women that I know he is proud of."

She smiled again, a few tears coming to her eyes. "Thanks, Feedback," she said and then sighed lightly. "But it will always hurt, the fact that he's no longer on Earth."

"Of course it will," he said gently. "Because he's your father. And the pain of a loss like that will always stay with you. It can't go away, but it becomes more bearable as time passes."

Rachel looked at him again. "Since when did you become good at talks like these?" she asked him.

Feedback grinned. "Since the day I joined the family," he said as he suddenly tickled her, making her laugh as she squirmed away from him, making him laugh as he watched her finish preparing dinner and putting it in the oven. She smiled after she set the timer for dinner and then hugged Feedback.

"Thanks, Feedback," she said.

"You're welcome, Rach," he said.

Smiling, the two went to the living room to watch the movie with Sparkle, Tina, Snare-Oh, and Amy and Sparkle jumped into Rachel's lap.

"Are you okay, Auntie Rach?" she asked.

Rachel smiled and hugged her niece. "Yes, sweetie, I'm okay now," she said as they settled down to watch the movie, happiness surrounding them all.
