Star Trek Delta Expedition

The Year is 2379, and the Talaxians at the asteroid colony are in danger. With no hope to defend themselves the Federation initiates operation slingshot in hopes to send a starship 30,000 light years to rescue the colony. Join the crew of the USS Expedition on it's first mission into the Delta Quadrant.

PROLOGUE

Subject: Aiding the Talaxian asteroid colony in the Delta Quadrant.

Ladies and Gentlemen:

As you may be aware of, the Pathfinder project is continuing to serve as a Subspace communication device to the Delta Quadrant. Seven months ago, with the return of the USS Voyager (NCC-74656), we were deluged with a lot of data of alien species, new civilizations, and stellar phenomena. Among the first alien species discovered was the Talaxians.

The Talaxians are a diverse people in the Delta Quadrant, covering some 75,000 Light years as their race warp capability has proven them resilient. As of Stardate 54868.6, no less than 500 Talaxians reside in the colony, seeing their home world Talax is occupied by the Haakonian Order. The colony maintains Shield Generators for protection from those who wish to remove them for profit. The Talaxians are considered non-aligned, yet in recent weeks, transmissions with Ambassador Neelix through the Pathfinder Project indicate there may be a situation there where we are needed.

Apparently, another known race, the Malon, have been dumping Theta radiation in the area near there colony. Although their shielding protects them from aggressors, it doesn't from radiation. On the date I send you this communique, Ambassador Neelix has sent a request for aid.

Such a request is unthinkable considering there is no starship that can make such a journey without a Transwarp Hub. The Borg Transwarp hub was annihilated with the return of the USS Voyager. Yet from data obtained from Voyager and what Borg Technology we have already cataloged and collected, as well as the work of some of our brightest engineers, we have created nothing short of a Transwarp portal. As you know, Project Slingshot has been in the works for several years. As of Stardate 55383.9, they successfully sent a probe to the Delta Quadrant that was recovered by the Talaxians. Since then, we have been sending Medical supplies and Engineering assistance to the Asteroid Colony. It is our belief that we can send a starship to the colony.

There are limitations, as there is no way to return until a portal is built as well in the Delta Quadrant. As of today, the Talaxian base has 60% of the equipment to do just that. But we will need starships and their crew to build a Starbase, as well as the Portal. Mind you, we will need to secure the area as well, which makes it imperative that we act as soon as possible. If the Malon continue dumping in the asteroid belt, the Talaxians will be forced to moved, and the fragile hold we have in the Delta Quadrant would be endangered as well.

I implore you to approve operation Delta Expedition.
