As far as Rainbow Dash was concerned, death was not an option.

Dying wasn't on her to do list, especially that night. And to her knowledge, that's the concept that drove her to do what she did. She hoped, after that night, that was all it was, a motive to stay alive.

Many ponies refused to believe this, however.

Those ponies believed she was a heartless murderer, who throws away the lives of others with the pull of a trigger, or a punch to the back of the head. They believed the events of that foggy Thursday night in early December were no accident.

And now it was February of the next year.

Dash pleaded guilty, aware that denying would only result in more trouble.

She lay awake on the cold, metal bed in her prison cell. Tears threaten to fall from her wide and onto her cheeks, like they do most restless nights. She knew it was okay to cry, to sob and holler, as nopony was her who she would mind judging her.

It had been a few weeks after she was taken under arrest, and she could feel her sanity already slipping. And she still had 27 more years left. God knows what her mental state could be after she's let out; if she's alive by then.

Dash suddenly heard a scream echo through her head, and she jumped up in attention. The scream didn't sound near or distant, not like it came from the other cells. It a moment before her breathing could return, and she let out a heavy sigh. She knew she shouldn't be phased, she had heard this ear piercing screech multiple times in the past.

Her imagination could help but play out the incidents where the sound had original entered her ears:

There was a light tapping noise with each step Rainbow Dash took. This was the only thing reminding her she was on ground, because of the fog that had gathered. The dense clouds blocked any detailed vision; all that could be seen where outlines of Ponyville's buildings to her left and right and the soulette of any objects in the road before her.

A faint hoof step had her attention behind her, and before she could turn around to address it, she felt something on her back. She froze, and her mind raced of all possible answers: mugger? Rapist? What exactly she didn't know, but without even realizing it, her shaky hoof reached for a pocket on the bag placed around her form. She pulled from the pocket a shiny metal object that reflected any (if any) light that came to it. The polished metal contrasted well with the black rubber on the grip of the object.

It was a pistol.

She griped it, and slung it towards whoever- or whatever- was behind her and touching her.

She really didn't know what she was doing. Her natural instincts kicked in. She pulled the trigger.

THERE, there was the horrific scream that escaped whoever had been shot's mouth. It was filled with pain and shock, and Dash instantly regretted it. The soft voice that belonged to the victim was still present, and the harshness of the scream left the voice.

The pony fell to the ground as the shot was fired with a thump.

Dash's eyes widened and snapped to the dying pony on the ground.

Pink mane and tail, long and flowing without any sharp stops or ends, light yellow coat. Well, crimson liquid invaded the yellow quickly.

'F-F-Fluttershy!" The startled blue Pegasus stuttered as horror and a sinking feeling of guilt at the bottom of her stomach built up. She could only stare at her friend, lying helplessly on the ground, quickly bleeding out if she didn't die from the wound on her chest itself.

The blue green eyes that belonged to Fluttershy stared back at Dash. Although the life was draining from the eyes fast, they held fear and terror.

"I'M SORRY!" Dash yelled, but it was too late: Fluttershy's glassy eyes seemed to stare at nothing. Her once struggling limbs fell limp, and the shallow rising and falling of her chest halted.

She here Rainbow Dash found herself.

A sudden calmness took over her panic and guilt. She had made her final decision.

"27 long years of this..." She muttered to herself. "Even when I'm released the pain will still remain… I-I can't live like this."

She grabbed the pillow that her head lay on, and grimaced as her head fell on the hard bed. With both hooves, she held the pillow a good foot from her pale face.

Then she shoved it into her face.

She concentrated on her mouth and nose region, trying to block all air flow to and from it.

It took a while.

But eventually, her grip on the pillow released and her pained sobs fell silent.

Rainbow Dash died on February 25th, 2015, which was that day.

Nopony will ever know of her guilt and remorse she actually felt.

Nor will anypony know of Fluttershy's intention to strangle Dash on the day of her death.

How was that for a sad/plot twist story, eh? Thanks for reading and please review! Also tell me if I should make a prequel and or sequel to this!
