A/N: I wrote this in English the other day, when I was rather depressed for some reason, so this is a really sad fic. Oh, this is my first Stargate fic ever, I only just got into Stargate a few months ago (I know, I'm insane for hating it for so long, its addictive but I've caught up, I own seasons 4-8 on dvd and have seen the first 8!) so please be nice.. I don't mind constructive critism, in fact I actually like it, but don't flame me or I might have to cry!

Disclaimer: Yep I own Stargate, thats why Sam and Jack are together, Janet and Jacob are still alive and.. oh wait, thats my fantasy world.. so nope, dont own Stargate!

Jack sat in the front row, Daniel and Teal'c next to him, all wearing dark suits. Daniel was crying, and Teal'c was pretty close, while Jack just sat there, numb.

He wasn't listening to Pete telling the story of how he had met the "love of his life," crying as he did.

Jack was looking across to her family: Mark, his wife, Mel, and her niece and nephew sat next to her daughter.

She was just sitting there, face blank much like his own, showing no emotion at all, wearing a black dress. He knew she hated that dress.

Jack couldn't bear to see her like that. Sam had always been worried about dying, leaving her daughter without a mother, just like she had.

She'd been so worried that she'd stopped going off world, unless really needed, and had stuck to lab work, heading up the Science Department, since her daughter was born, to cut down on the chance of being killed.

Sam had been struck by a drunk driver, while driving home from work, the same way she'd lost her own mother.

"Jack." Daniel's voice shook Jack out of his thoughts.

He looked around, realising the funeral was over, and stood, following Teal'c and Daniel to the front where Mark, Pete, and a man Jack didn't recognise, stood.

He took his place at the front of the coffin, Pete on the other side and together the 6 of them picked up the coffin, where Sam lay, and slowly began walking out of the church.

As the coffin passed Ally, she burst into tears, the first time she'd shed a tear since she found out about the accident.

Seeing Ally cry like that finally made Jack break. She didn't deserve to lose her Mom. She was only 11. Sam didn't deserve to die young, to miss seeing her child grow up. It should've been the drunk that died, not her, not his Sam.

They slowly put Sam's coffin into the hearse, and Jack collapsed onto the ground, crying for the soul mate he'd just lost.

The soul mate he never really had.
