My fist xxxholic fic.

Enjoy.

He woke up to find the annoying guest beside him.

"Finally you wake up." Doumeki sluggishly stood up from where he was kneeling, just beside where Watanuki was sleeping. "I need my dinner."

"…why you can't make it yourself, you imbecile?" Watanuki grumbled as usual, but there was a faint smile on his face.

It was the warmest thing. To wake up beside the person you care the most, and to find that the person you woke up beside to cared for you the most too.

Amusing? Irritating? Lovely? Mixed feelings?

And so he made the dinner that night. Sashimi of the best quality, with the plum sake he reserved for the last day of the ninth month. To celebrate the lunar calendar, to celebrate the togetherness, to celebrate the unchanged feelings.

And he didn't know since when did Doumeki aged. Ever since he proposed? Ever since they smiled together? Ever since sharing the bed? Ever since… ever since Doumeki possessed a wrinkle by the corner of his eyes.

Watanuki didn't age. He couldn't age. He would die, but not aging.

The mermaid words went through his head.

You are the same type with me.

And some fear, darkness, doubt slipped through his mind when he found a white haired, wrinkled and smelly old man breathless beside him, on their bed.

And the ashes were still there, even after he felt the world has changed, and nothing seemed true anymore. The altar with Doumeki's picture on it was still majestically placed beside his—no—their bed; yet nobody stood by him anymore.

Moko and Maru watched their owner in concern.

Watanuki could only provide a wry smile.

"…I am fine, my dear. I am fine."

Why was he there again? Watching the store; playing with the girls and Mokona; granting guests' wishes? What was that the most important thing?

….I wish for you to stay exist.

Water slowly dripped down his cheek.

Yuuko san; I am here. I am existing. But I am alone, and lonely. What is this existence? It's my choice, yes. But for what purpose? When will I meet you?

And nobody was there to answer, because he didn't age, he didn't age, he would die but not now, not then, not in the meantime.

short; yes.
