Chapter one.

I had just come back from my family's summer vacation, and I was surprisingly happy. I had been waiting three months to get the third book in my favourite series. The first book was titled Twilight, and I was buying it too, I had already read it, but it had not yet made it into my collection. After buying the third book, Eclipse, I made my way over to the section where they had the first and second books.

I picked a copy of Twilight up off the shelf and looked at it. The cover had a picture of somebody's hands, holding out an apple. The hands, I assumed, were Bella's. She was one of the main characters, the other being her vampire boyfriend, Edward. I traced the apple with my finger tip. All of a sudden, out of the apple, came a bright light. I dropped the book and prepared to scream. In seconds, a boy was launched out of the book and into a book shelf, knocking it over. I looked around, to see if anyone had noticed. Thankfully, no one had.

Then I inspected the boy. He was older than me, by at least three years. His bronze coloured hair covered part of his chalky white face. He looked up and uttered a single word,

"Bella?"

It was a question. He looked around at his surroundings, his liquid gold eyes seeming to take in everything, except for me. There were dark circles under them. I had never seen that face before, but since April, I would recognize it anywhere. I looked down at the book on the floor and gasped.

"Ed…Edward?" I croaked.

He jumped up in one fluid motion and looked at me. He face frustrated.

"How do you know me?" He asked softly, just loud enough for me to hear. "What is your name?"

"Ka- Katie" I replied quietly, I could not hear it myself, but I knew that he could.

"Where are we?" he inquired.

"I'll explain later…"I told him, reaching to grab his arm. His hands were as cold as ice, and as hard as stone. He did not budge. I now knew how helpless Bella felt. He pulled his hand back to his side.

"Why, why, why…." He massaged his temples with his hands. I got it; his powers only work in his world. Thank God.

"Where am I?" He asked again, though this time he sounded angry. That was when it hit me. I was human and, well, he wasn't.

I pointed to the book beside me that lay faceing up.

"Read the back, it will explain a bit." I said, a very little bit… When he had read it he looked up at me. He was plainly very confused. I put out my hand and he passed me the book.

"Edward," I said. "What is the last thing you remember doing? I mean, before you slammed into the bookcase." He looked at me.

"I jum- I mean walked, toward Be- my girlfriend…" He answered, clearly editing.

"Where were you?" I asked, pretty sure I was getting somewhere.

"I was at my house, in my room." Then I got it. I flipped to a page in Twilight, and pushed the book at Edward.

"Read," I said, "but don't go too far." He read and looked at me, expectantly.

"Erm, Edward, I think- well, I'm pretty sure, that you came out of this book." I finished lamely. I was sure I was making no sense to him, because I made no kind of sense to my self. There was one thing that I knew. I needed to get him back to Forks, in an alternate universe, where vampires exist. But as of today-or so I thought- vampires exist in my universe. Wow. That's a concept.

I made a fast decision, he would have to stay with me (oh shucks.) until I could get him elsewhere, preferably to a certain person in Phoenix, Arizona. Heh heh, I would (again, unfortunately) have to go with him. Poor me.

Oy, problem. Edward+StreetGiant mob of gushing girls. Well, we would have to wait till dark anyways, and hit the butcher, because I, for one, did NOT want to become vampire lunch.
