**AN: Wrote this for a friend of mine on her birthday because she asked for it and I need more practice. And because I love her!**
Meg sighed while checking her phone and waiting with waning patience to get a reply. She had hailed a taxi with little effort, but the uncontrollable variable that traffic presented would definitely hinder her from getting to...oh right, Gilbert hadn't texted her back yet to (at the least) tell her where she was supposed to go. He was always so impulsive that she should've known this would happen but the amount of faith she had placed in his ability to plan ahead had erroneously stayed the same.
"So ma'am, where are you off to?" the cab driver asked calmly and in a voice Meg was sure she had heard before. She brushed the thought away and stammered an answer, angry at Gilbert but apologetic to the driver for wasting his time, "I-I'm so sorry. My friend wants me to meet him somewhere but he hasn't texted me as to where I should be going. He only told me that today's a special day and he wants to do his best to suprise me in every way possible. Knowing him, today might be my last on this earth. God help me." The cabbie smiled and gave a slight tug upon his cap, "Why don't you give him a chance? Who knows? You might just have fun, Magruerite."
In the rear view mirror Meg noticed that the man was wearing dark sunglasses, a cap that covered his hair and had what seemed to be a fake mustache on. (She could tell because it was beginning to peel off of his upper lip.) While inching closer to the door and gathering her purse so she'd have all she needed before she made a run for it, she also noticed that the man had a small yellow bird on his shoulder.
That's really odd. I only know one idiot who would seriously try driving a taxi with a bird on their shoulder not to mention he does know my na-oh, God it has to be Gilbert.
As if he knew Meg had just had this thought, the driver tilted his glasses down to reveal his piercing red eyes, "Suprised?" Meg frowned and struggled for a response. Oh yeah, she was definitely suprised that this lunatic had pretended to be a cab driver, that much was certain, but she was more afraid of what lay ahead of them for the rest of the day.
"Gilbert, your crazy! I'm a little m-more than suprised. I mean, you've never gone this far before in trying to suprise or prank anyone. This isn't even close that time when you had a painter illustrate Roderich groveling in submission to you so that it would be an actual part of history!"
Gilbert frowned and removed the various accessories he had used to disguise himself, "Nope, I'm pretty sure that was a little more drastic. Anyway, seeing that stupid aristocrat declare surrender was worth most of the money I had saved for rent but that's beside the point. I'm gonna guess that you're disappointed with all of this?" Meg bit her lip in thought and took a deep breath. Though it was pretty drastic, she admired the effort Gilbert had put into everything despite his half-assed disguise and appreciated that he had even thought of her. So no, she couldn't say she was disappointed by this madness.
"N-no, I'm not disappointed. I'm actually really glad that you thought of me, Gil. Thank you. But, uh, are you actually going to drive this cab all over town? And if so, you should probably get moving because there's a guy behind us giving the finger and he does NOT look happy."
Gilbert laughed and turned slightly to face Meg, "Yeah, I'll be driving. C'mon, I picked out a nice er- awesome place for us to have breakfast since it's still pretty early." And with that, he eased off of the curb, into the sea of early morning traffic.
