Title:In the end theres only darkness.

Rating:PG for angst

Pairing:Arthur/Eames

Fandom:Inception

Summary:A pain beyond all reason, hope or end...

Authors note (apology):Absolute drabble that punched me in the face right in the middle of work. I blame watching 'Warrior' entirely for this and now know that I should never watch movies where Tom Hardy is in pain EVER AGAIN.

The pain ripped through his being, leaving him aching and unable to breathe.

It was overwhelming, so much more intense and terrifying than any bullet wound or stabbing in or outside the dreamsphere.

It made him too hot even as a chill ran up his spine, the rush of emotion leaving him temporarily deaf, hearing only the rush of blood from his too fast beating heart.

His vision blurred as his eyes welled with tears, an action he had long thought abandoned as he had become a hardened improvement on his former youthful self.

He gripped his stomach as he fell on shaking knees, doubling over as a burst of air pushed up through his chest, constricting his throat and concluding in an unholy wail of inhuman anguish.

As he collapsed completely, faintly struggling to force his lungs to function once more, he closed in on himself and knew that despite everything that had happened in his life up to this point, all the trials and hurt and seemingly impossible near misses, this would be his end.

There was no escape from this, no survival, the crushing compression on his body caused by an internal unstoppable force.

This was how the great Mr. Eames would die.

On a damp concrete floor, in a cold abandoned warehouse, as Arthur walked out the door without a backwards glance, after ripping out his heart.
