I couldn't believe it. I, Annabeth Chase, was too busy thinking about a boy to do anything. It was our anniversary and Percy had decided to go on some stupid quest and he still wasn't back. I decided to go for a walk on the beach in hopes that it would calm me down. "Come on Percy, come home to me." The sound of the waves washed over me, making me feel like Percy was near. I sat down on the sand and tried to fight back the tears. "Seriously Annabeth, you're better than this. You're a strong, independant woman who doesn't need a man to support her."
I looked out and saw a rubber duck floating towards the shore. Soon there were hundreds of ducks floating in the ocean. I wipe away a tear and smile, "Dammit Seaweed brain, you had me worried for a second."
A voice, not just any voice, his voice, spoke behind me. "You should know better than to doubt me Wise Girl."
I stand up quickly and turn around to find him. He was perfect. The moon shined in his hair as he stood there. I wrapped my arms around him and buried my head in his shoulder. I look back to his amazing green eyes, "What took you so long?"
"Not much, just questy stuff, it happens." He puts his arms around my waist pulling me a little closer to him.
"You cut it a little close don't you think?" I inch closer to his face.
"I know, I'm sorry. Do the hundreds of rubber duckies make up for it?" He gently brushes the hair out of my face.
"Not quite." Our faces are so close I can feel his nose brush mine. He bites his lip, it was like he was trying to drive me crazy. I finally close the gap and press my lips to his. We had kissed thousands of times, but this was different. He was gentle but fierce. There was more passion between us and soon our lips parted and our tongues were locked in a wrestling match.
We part for a second and he whispers, "I love you."
"I love you too, now kiss me Seaweed brain."
My arm are around his neck and his hands are on the small of back. We stand there kissing on that beautiful beach with the waves splashing at my ankles.
Then I wake up. I look around and realize that I fell asleep on the beach. It's still night time. There were no ducks. No kissing. No Percy.
Halfway across the country, Percy wakes up from the same dream.
