The Worst Nightmare

A/N: Hi! This is Roz! Okay so this is a Soul Eater fan fiction...as you probably know. It's mostly a MakaxSoul story. So, ENJOY?!

Also I don't own Soul Eater!

The dream always began with Maka standing alone at sunset on the road to Soul and hers shared apartment. She would begin moving towards it but no matter how fast she ran or walked, she never seemed to get any closer. After a time exhaustion and darkness would set in and she would sit on the sidewalk to catch her breath. Almost instantly after she sat down she would hear Soul's laugh and motorcycle zooming close by, and she would stand waving her arms and calling for him to stop and help her. But he just passed her by and went into the apartment. Maka was ,of course, devastated but eventually continued to walk and, she finally was able to make it to their shared apartment but, she couldn't bring herself to walk in somehow. So she began to peek inside through the kitchen window. What she saw never failed to shock her. Inside would be a *ahem* more developed, and as Maka thought prettier, girl sitting with Soul at the counter. As she continued to watch the scene Blair walked in and greeted the girl kindly and naturally and the girl would turn and smile her greetings as if they knew each other. That shouldn't be possible...right? But the worst of all was when it was later at night the girl and Soul would...would...kiss each other good night and retreat to their rooms. KISS! This was when Maka would truly break down, truly feel replaced by someone better. She would just begin to cry in her dream, then would wake up in an equal state.

But one night her dream progressed more. It moved on to allow her to enter the house and in turn Soul's bedroom. As she opened the door, he turned but didn't appear to see her. She was invisible to him. She was gone, replaced. She wasn't loved. As she woke up she realized Soul had sleepily come in asking "Was happenin'? You okay Maka?" As she shakily shook her head he wandered closer asking , " That dream again?" Another nod. He sighed "Maka, you know it isn't real right? You know that I do love you and care for you?" A very small nod from Maka again. "Alright. Move over I'm sleeping in here tonight." A few short words of protest made way for a sigh and the sound of crinkling covers. As Soul climbed in beside her, Maka curled up close to him. " Alright Maka, get some sleep we've got classes tomorrow to go to." And as he lightly kissed her forehead and fell asleep once more, Maka smiled. This was surely was the best cure for nightmares.
