Regina runs her fingertips on her mother's coffin, placing one red rose on top of it, she continues to try to touch the wood but she just can't. This is too much to bear. Her hands turn into fists by her side. The former queen closes her eyes, inhaling deeply, trying to hold back the tears that won't stop falling. "I'm sorry, mother." She half whispers between restrained sobs, leaning her head on top of the casket.

The regal woman lost track of time and doesn't know for how much time she stayed in that position, for the hours doesn't seem to matter anymore, she has lost everything and everyone she ever loved and that loved her in return. So she waits for the pain to go away.

When Regina finally opens her eyes she sees her. Emma Swan, staring at her, for God knows how long. "You have no right being here." Her voice is hard, matching the expression on her face as she stands to be eye level with Snow White's spawn.

"Regina, I –" the sheriff's words trail off, "I came here to offer my condolences." Her tone is so formal, it doesn't even sound like Emma. The blonde doesn't move an inch, she waits until she can read Regina's expression better. She motions her head to her hands, showing the other woman the white roses she is carrying. Bad choice of color, Emma can help but think.

"I don't need nor want your compassion, Miss Swan." With a flick of her wrists the former evil queen sets the flowers Emma was holding on fire, the blonde shakes her hands to make sure they aren't burnt. Regina grits her teeth, staring deeply at the green eyes in front of her, "You can go back to your idiotic parents and let them know I will destroy them if it is the last thing I do."

"I'm not here to fight, Regina." Emma finally steps forward, "I'm here to see how you are. No one should be alone in a moment like this, so here I am, even if it means you will try to kill me in a few seconds." She forces a smile, still studying the older woman's face.

Regina remains stoic, emotionless, "Get out." She says simply, loud and clear, "Get the hell out!" the woman points angrily to the exit.

Emma shakes her head no. She doesn't say anything, instead she keeps walking towards the broken woman, "You don't have to be alone." Green eyes locked with dark brown ones, "Not today at least." The sheriff places her hand on top of Regina's stretched arm, bringing it down, "I'm sorry for your mother, Regina, I really am."

The queen flinches at the touch, but at the same time the warmth of another's hand on her keeps the woman from walking away – or throwing Emma at the nearest wall for that matter – so she lets the savior's soft skin brush against her arm, up to her shoulders and as she closes her eyes she feels the younger woman pulling her into an embrace.

Regina wants to fight; she wants to push Emma away. She even tries using her magic to disappear from there, but her body won't obey, it trembles beneath her knees. And as the blonde's grip on her tightens, she notices Emma is trying to keep her from shaking even more. It is too much. And then Regina lets go, the tears start running free down her face, and the sobs come now naturally and she doesn't hold back anything, as for tonight, she is not alone.
