The origin of a cactus

I wrote this for my reading final in school, and I thought it was pretty good so I thought why not post it here? Anyhow the story is about how an evil queen has angered Persephone, by attempting to kill her own child whom persephone was fond of, and how the queen is punished

This is just a short one-shot I wrote for my reading final,

So nothing other than the characters (except Hades and Persephone) the place and the story belong to me

In the long forgotten land of Terranires, there was a kind king, and a bitter queen. The king, Siros, loved the queen, Teranis, but she only cared for power and herself.

One day, Teranis gave birth to a small girl with eyes as dark as pebbles and bright hair, king Siros named the girl Macaria meaning she who is blessed. Macaria was watched over by Persephone the queen of the underworld, through a magic flower blossom.

Then, Teranis grew tired and angered with her daughters over cheery behavior, so she planned to kill her. Persephone, upon hearing of Teranis's wicked plan, became enraged. Her husband Hades had allowed her to go up to the surface and punish Teranis.

When Persephone reached the castle and approached Teranis she yelled " Foolish woman! How dare you plan such an evil act against your own child!" Teranis begged for forgiveness.

Luckily, Persephone was a very merciful goddess, so she turned Teranis into a cactus, it suited her very painfully bad personality.
