Sora had gained much from his adventures, awesome skill, a key that smashes skulls and skyscrapers, one hell of a thing to tell his eventual grand kids he had done for them.

But in this situation all Ventus could see, was Sora's ability, to sleep everywhere, and possibly the fact he had unlocked the janitors closet and had stolen a mop head to use as a pillow, Ven was not sure how they would put that back.

The hospital Sora's wife had given birth in was small, and Sora was adamant he would not leave, so they moved a bunch of chairs together and Sora curled up on them with his impromptu pillow.

Ventus, who Sora had deemed remain to wake him if anything happened, had sat their for a short while thinking about a conversation from months ago when he asked what Sora was like as a heartless.

Kairi said he looked like an ordinary shadow, if a bit small, but acted with the brain of a slightly above average puppy.

Sora said he was in control all along.

Riku immediately agreed with Kairi.

As Ventus had sat there, he realized he saw a lot of himself in Sora, and to both stave off boredom, and prove a point to himself, he made a portal home to get something, he was now testing the puppy he got three months ago to figure out its intelligence.

So far the young and furry canine had taken the pillow slash mop head out from under Sora's head, had unzipped Sora's pocket and taken the phone out so Ven could make a phone call, placed the phone back and zipped up the pocket, all without waking Sora.

Ventus was currently in a state of denial as to the dogs superiority over him.

No dog could be smarter than him, except maybe a super intelligent person from Goofy's species, but no puppy of any real or cartoonish origin could beat him in a battle of wits.

He hoped.

As he sat their, listing what he knew how to do and the dog did not know, much of which boiled down to "Can he use a keyblade" , while also stroking his mental foe's furry head, he was reprimanded for the eighth time for bringing a dog into a hospital, he responded once more with "It's a maternity ward and all babies love puppies."

The nurse was getting rather angry with the blonde.

She did not even know how he got a puppy in there and did not believe the answer he gave her of "Magic."

As Ventus continued his mental denial rant, he got to "I have to work, I know how to work, he doesn't, all he does is sleep, play, eat and do his business."

Riku, who had recently arrived, looked in confusion at Ven's face, which had set upon it, a look of dawning realization, eyes wide, mouth slightly agape, and staring at a wall.

Ventus had realized, thanks to his previous train of thought, that the small animal curled up in his lap getting petted on the scalp, was, in fact, smarter than him.

Thus, his dog was clearly a genius by even Goofy-species-dog standards.

Because there was no way in hell that a slightly above average puppy was smarter than him.

End

The thought just came to me that the Sora heartless should act very much like a little puppy.

Then this happened.

Now I play the fun game of seeing how long this remains in the "You can't prove it won't happen"

area of canon.

I'm hoping it stays there past 3D at least.
