Author's Note: I just wrote a short one-shot to celebrate the end of Lost. I have been thinking about the fact that Juliet did not have a say in many choices concerning her. So I wrote this to show a choice she did make. I do not own anything in the LOST universe.
Why you Stayed
…...
The gray of the sky and the rain that had come with it had yet to cease all day. Juliet loved the rain that over took the landscape. There was something so peaceful and calming about it. A rainy day had always been one of her favorite things both on and off the island. She had spent the day cooking and trying new recipes. She was definitely enjoying the day off. James was suppose to be home in a matter of minutes. She hated the fact that on her day off he had to work. So as a result she had spent the morning mopping. Around lunch she decided she had done enough mopping and thought making a huge dinner would be fun. She made all of her favorite foods and his favorite too. She was just finishing up cooking. Then front door opened and then slammed. How many times had she told him not to do that. It drove her nuts and he did it just to see her get annoyed. At least he was home she thought as she walked out of the kitchen. To add to her annoyance he had tracked water all the way to their bedroom. She followed the tracks to the bedroom and stopped at the door.
"James, what the heck is up with you? Get changed I made us dinner."
She finally looked at him and noticed he was leaning heavily on one side. The weird angle he was sitting at suggested he was injured.
"Well excuse me Blondie. I was just getting ready."
He was trying to smirk but not successfully. She had been with him long enough to know something was wrong. Plus she had been a doctor way to long to not know what pain looked like. She would cut right to the chase.
"No bull James, your hurt."
"Who said I was hurt? I am fine and almost ready to eat." Juliet's scowl widened. She walked over to the bed and poked him in his side. He groaned in pain.
"I figured from the way you where sitting it was that side." She stated as she sat down beside him on the bed. He looked really annoyed.
"I thought you stopped playing doctor?"
"James let me look so we can have dinner. Take off your shirt." It came out of her mouth with more force then she meant.
He started to smile."Anything for you doc."
He pulled off his shirt to reveal his side. His side was covered in bruises and his breathing was ragged.
"What in the world did you do?" She asked will poking his side at different places. Trying to find which rib he must have hurt.
"Miles and I where checking one of the stations. Watch it Juliet!"
She had just pressed one of his ribs and man it hurt. She gestured with her hand for him to continue. With a concerned look on her face.
"The guy did not realize we were coming today. He was a real idiot. He was more than a little jumpy and thought we were hostiles."
She finally looked up from his side. "Well it looks like you fractured two ribs."
"Well that is wonderful can we go eat now?" She ignored him and his sarcasm.
"There is not much I can do. But tomorrow you are getting x-rays and you are taking Tylenol for sure. What am I ever going to do with you?"
He reached forward to touch her face. His hands where rough and soft. But felt perfect against her skin.
"Juliet I'm fine your a amazing doctor."
"Thanks,You know I love you even when you leave tracks in the house and slam the door."
"How in the world was I so lucky to convince you to stay and fall in love with you."
They sat in silence for a moment then she looked into his loving eyes.
"You asked and I happen to love men who keep me busy."she said softly.
"I love you."He said as he leaned forward and kissed her.
