"How did you get this?" Emma Swan said, rubbing her thumb lightly over the scar on her lover's lip. Today we found our loving couple sitting in the park, Emma's head laying lightly in the Queens lap.
"Fighting a knight. He perished in the mighty blaze of my fury like the rest of his village." Regina stated bluntly, her eyes traveling over the people in the park. Emma was silent for a few second before she spoke again.
"He nicked your lip so you destroyed his village?" She questioned, brow furrowed. That wasn't fair. But then again the Queen didn't exactly have a reputation of being fair.
"Yes. Is that a problem Miss Swan?" Emma shook her head and turned back to face the park. From where they were they could see Henry playing with some kids around his age, on the monkey bars no less. It had been a while sense either of them had seen him let go like this, not worrying about the curse. After a few moments of silence Regina let out a frustrated sigh.
"What is it?" Emma asked, fearing that she had done something wrong.
"You want to know the truth about what happened to my lip?" Emma only nodded, looking up at Regina expectantly. The Queen paused for a few seconds before continuing. "When I was little I was running around the castle, like little girls do. My father and mother had warned me more times then I could count not to do it, but I wasn't always so good at listening to other people. I went skirting around a corner and I tripped and fell into the coffee table. My mother fixed my teeth but refused to fix my lip as it would forever be a sign of my inability to listen." Emma laughed at this. Not a mean laugh or anything just a soft one that filled the air around them. Regina eyed her warily. "What's so funny Miss Swan?" She snipped at the blonde.
"Nothing. I was just trying to imagine you as a little girl." Emma replied smiling up at the mayor.
"I was a little girl at one point to Emma." The blonde smiled at the use of her first name and couldn't help but feel at peace in this moment, glad that everything that everyone had been fighting was now over. The sheriff sat up and looked over her shoulder at Regina.
"Would it be completely out of line for me to kiss you in public?" Emma said, more of a formality then a question.
"Yes, Miss Swan, that would be rather inappropriate." But Emma just ignored the woman's words and leaned in, capturing the brunettes lips in her own. This was perfection. This was Emma's happy ending.
