A/N: Just a little oneshot of Mercedes hanging out with the Evans siblings. Read and Review as always!
"Hey Sammy no fair! Stevie keeps nudging me and its making me lose!"
"No I'm not! Not my fault you suck at the game!"
Sam gave a sigh and turned to give a giggling Mercedes an apologetic glance. Ever since Prom, they had been spending more and more time together and today she had invited him and his siblings over to her place to play video games.
Everything had been going well up until Stevie got a higher score than Stacey. From there it had gone downhill and now they were nudging each other so that the other would lose concentration. Sam was just about to go over and take the controllers from both of them, when Mercedes got up and walked over to them.
"Hey guys, time out for a sec," she said softly, but firmly and pressed pause on Stevie's controller.
Both kids turned slowly and looked up at her with somewhat sheepish expressions on their face.
"You know, I have an older brother. We used to fight a lot when were your age and we barely talked when we were teenagers. Now he's away at school and I really regret all the time we wasted fighting with each other. You guys are lucky, you're still really young and you have so much time to have fun with each other; don't waste it fighting over something as silly as a video game."
The kids were silent for a minute before giving each other small smiles, quietly apologizing and turning back to their game.
Sam looked on in amazement; Stacey and Stevie were sweet kids and he loved them but when they fought, it was like WW3. But Mercedes had managed to talk them down without yelling or threatening to make them watch Avatar for the hundredth time.
For a second he had a flash of him and Mercedes taking care of their own kids and what an incredible mom she'd be.
"Whoa Sam, get a hold of yourself" he thought quickly and shook his head. He loved spending time with her but he got the feeling that she was only interested in friendship. It didn't seem likely that he'd be her type; it was a lost cause.
"What are you so deep in thought about Sammy" Mercedes teased as she made her way back over to where Sam was seated on the couch.
"Nothin'. Just thinking about what an awesome mom you'd make," he replied with a soft smile.
"Well, for the record I think you make a pretty good dad," Mercedes said and gave him that gorgeous smile that had recently started to give him butterflies.
"So we'd both make good parents"
"Yup"
"Well that's always good to know," Sam laughed and gave a side glance to Mercedes and was surprised when he saw her do the same.
Maybe things between them weren't as hopeless as he thought.
