Chapter 1- The Wandering Warrior

The wind blew to a soft pace the leaves danced within the presence, The moon was lit to it's fullest extent as I walked along the path it was abandon with the crickets echoing in the distance the light from the moon provided enough light to see.

With the dark nights the people of this town did not dare come out if they wanted to face the wrath of the Shinsengumi. I had heard they posed as a ruthless threat and had scared the people of this town, But for now I have not caught sight of any of these men.

I heard the soft cry, my ears perked to the sound moving my feet towards the direction I had noticed a small boy he sat on the ground his soft black hair spewing into his dark eyes.

"Why are you out here?" I asked, he looked up his bottom lip quivering.

"Daddy left me." I sighed rubbing the back of my head, I opened my arms gesturing for him to come.

"I'll take you." He smiled and jumped in my arms, though he smiled his eyes were red from crying to much, how could a woman leave her son out here? Doesn't she know what's out here?

"Where's your house?" He pointed to the far right, where you could see a tall house about the size of an inn.

I moved my feet, as he leaned his head on my shoulder closing his eyes. I smiled lightly my brother had always done this in the past with me, he would hold me to his shoulder and hug me tightly.

Crossing the street I stopped when I noticed something horrifying, 2 men in blue-like clothing stood over the bodies of Shinsengumi men, aren't they supposed to be more trained in there sword skills.

I placed the boy down in a corner, tucking him behind the wall. "Stay here. Close your eyes and cover your ears." He was confused by complied easily.

I moved out on to the street, my long hair blowing into the light wind. They turned around, both men had light grey hair and red eyes that had looked as if they were controlled by something. My eyes widened this happened before.

You had to strike them through there heart. I smiled, it had been a while since I made it rain blood, there mouths had voiced a loud resonating sound something a creature would make. They dashed out me blood lust crowded there head.

One raised there blades, I had aimed my left foot towards it's right left it tripped. As the other one dashed towards me with the blade pointed towards me, I kicked his sword away, drawing my sword with a quick movement I had strike the soulless person in the heart.

The other one was moving to get up I grinned as my I dug my sword into the heart it let out a final shriek as I pierced through it's body.

I felt the blood splash against my lips, I licked my lips, over the months I had thought the taste of blood had great taste to it.

I cursed myself, my hair tie had gotten loose. Causing my hair to cascade down my back, I ripped a piece of my shirt tying it around the arm of one of the men who were breathing, his eyes barely opening.

"Hey, are you awake or not?" I slapped his cheek, he narrowed his eyebrows and looked at me, he was angry but it's not like he could do anything.

"Yukigo!" I heard a group of men yell, I sighed shaking my head. I caught eye of the blue jackets, They were finally here.

"Who are you!" One of them demanded, he had midnight black hair his eyes were the color of a deep purple. A beautiful color.

"Shut up, So loud. I'm helping your friend." I angrily spoke, as I glanced at them. The one on the right had purple long hair and had looked at me with calculating eyes. the other had reddish brown hair and seemed to have a knot at the back of his head.

"Yukigo, Are you hurt?" The red haired one asked as he rushed over, I sighed looking at them, Standing up I made my way back to the wall.

"Hey, Come on." I touched the little boy's shoulder, He flinched as he looked up he nodded as he gripped my hand.

As we were passing the road, I had left them with there injured member. "We are going to kill you." The purple haired on, I glanced at him he took steps towards me his eyes narrowed at me.

"Kill me? And why is that?" I raised an eyebrow brushing the loose strand away from my eye. He had kept his face straight his posture looked still and vulnerable but my guts had told me he was amazing at drawing his sword.

"You seen." He spoke, The black haired one had crossed his arms over his chest as the reddish haired one had attended to the other man.

"I have seen before and killed them I don't see it as a big deal." I tugged the little boy's hand with mine, who held a tight grip on to it as if he didn't want to let go.

"You seen them before?" The black haired one asked, I nodded. It was nothing different from before expect they seemed to appear more often.

"Yes, They killed my family." I stated bluntly, I took several steps forward my hair dangling in the air, As we made it towards his house I knocked gently. The door opened revealing a man he held a bottle of sake in his right hand as he looked at us with flushed cheeks.

"Daddy!" The little boy yelled he wanted to jump within the man's arms but I held him back, He frowned looking at me.

"Stupid little boy you came back." The man angrily groaned, he had raised his hand as if he were to hit the little boy he flinched holding his hands up trying to crowd his fear.

I held the man's clumsy hand who looked at me with a red face. "You are drunk go sleep." I sighed looking at the man.

"Stupid boy, you think your better than me." He growled lowly, I used his hand pushing him back he landed on the ground with a loud thud.

"From now on I will be taking care your kid since you are a coward and can't do it yourself." He smirked looking at the boy.

"Good. I didn't want him to begin with." I glared at him as his eyes turned to me, "you are a person that deserves to drown in hell."

I slammed the door shut, pulling the little boy with me. "Where are we going?" He asked in a soft voice light as ever.

"I am going to start take care of you."

"My name is Suzu." He smiled lightly looking at me, "my name is Sakura." He titled his head looking at me with slightly wide eyes.

"You're a girl." I nodded, running a hand through my hair, he leaned back looking at me as he took a big gulp of rice.

"I am in the disguise of a man." He grinned I watched the corner of his lip pull up he looked amazed by this.

I watched him fall asleep his head settled on to my lap, he was a young boy and was cursed with a terrible parent.

I awoke in the morning seeing Suzu raising the bamboo stick high in the air swinging it, he huffed lightly as he swung.

He was practicing to be a samurai.

Just like nee-san.
