1 Ultimation

There was never anything different about me while I was at school, I was never even that popular. Truth was, one day, I knew it would be different.

"Cyndaquil, Ember attack!"

"Mareep, keep up that Light Screen!"

The Light Screen lasted for about two seconds before the burning embers blasted through it. There was a distinct smell of burning wool before the Mareep jumped quickly into a nearby pond to douse the burning patches of wool on its back.

When it had finished, it turned and, without any noticeable sign from the trainer except a sudden glint in the eyes and a flash of recognition, kicked its back feet through the pond and sprayed the water in an arc straight over the Cyndaquil. The water fell onto it, dousing the flaming spots on its back. The Mareep looked back at its trainer.

"Thunderbolt attack!"

The Cyndaquil managed to get its flames ignited again, rather quickly. It didn't make any difference however, the Thunderbolt attack had already started to sift through the water molecules, moving too fast to be seen. Simply, the electricity surged straight down the water path and hit the Cyndaquil with a naturally enhanced force. The Cyndaquil put up a good fight against the electric shield surrounding it. Even if it did collapse after three more seconds.

The opposing trainer sighed. "Cyndaquil, return."

He held out his Pokeball while the red laser shot out, converted Cyndaquil's DNA to a state of pure energy and sucked it back inside.

"It's not fair y'know. This is the fourth time today." He replaced the Pokéball back onto the first left space on his Pokébelt.

"Maybe you should just stick to wild Pokémon, dude. For now at least, you know they're weaker than properly trained ones."

"I know I should. But I just really need to get Cyndaquil's levels up..." He sighed.

The winning trainer held up his Pokéball. "Return, Mareep."

He replaced the Pokéball on the second right space on his Pokébelt.

"Here dude." He reached into the side pocket on his backpack and pulled out a yellow and red coloured wrapper. He handed it to the trainer stood in front of him.

"Is that what I think it is?" The trainer asked.

"It's a rare candy. Give it to your Cyndaquil and he'll grow a level instantly."

"But…I mean, don't you want it?" He asked.

"No. I found it this morning. But I'd never use it, I'm just gonna train my Pokémon myself, with no help from any training aids." He zipped the pocket on his backpack shut again and hoisted the thing tighter on his shoulder. "Anyway, I'm off. Places to go, girls to do…Or something like that. Nah, that'll do."

"Hey, what's your name anyway?"

"It's Michael actually, but no-ones called me that since I was 8. Stiv's what I usually get."

"Well, thanks, Stiv."

"You're very welcome, dude."

He walked into the thick trees nearby, he checked that the coast was clear, then pulled out his Pokédex out from his pocket and pressed a button that was unique to his 'dex.

"Port open."

A glowing green portal opened in front of him. He folded away his Pokédex and stepped through. The portal vanished.

So, as I was saying. This is my story. That was me, about a week into my pretty much unique Pokémon training. To fight that particular trainer, I had two Pokémon, a Mareep and a Staryu. The previous day, I had nothing.
