Hell

I do not own Bleach or Muramasa

Muramasa looked around with interest as he stepped into the realm of the next zanpakutou. It was dark, cold, bloody and rotten. The stench of death assaulted him as he looked around for the spirit – trying to not gag.

"Why are you here?" a raspy voice spoke and he turned to see a structure in the dim light.

"You long for freedom?" he asked the spirit that was trapped behind a cage. The figure came to the bars and looked at him, skin cracked and bleeding, hair lank, long and tangled, feet bare and dirty beneath the blood. The zanpakutou was sick, locked away and neglected, unable to even heal. "I can offer you that freedom, a chance to strike against the Shinigami who holds you captive." Dull eyes blinked and hands covered in lacerations touched the bars, nails – long, cracked and filthy – tapping a dead rhythm against the metal. "Join with me."

"Are you insane?" the zanpakutou croaked after a moment, a sardonic smile stretching and cracking already cracked lips. "Me leave here?"

"Yes. I can help you and make you strong, leave the one who discarded you and keeps you firmly locked up."

"If you knew who discarded me, you would be running,"

"But-"

"Master is truly terrifying."

"He does not even know your name!"

"Perhaps, and yet Master is Master." The zanpakutou turned away, hands loosing from the bars.

"You can have so much more though!" Muramasa frowned, wondering why he had failed, but trying one last plea. "You deserve so much more." The zanpakutou turned to look at him, a shadow of hardness reflecting in the weepy, infected eyes.

"I am not disloyal, even if Master is. Leave this place."

"No, not until you tell me why – the true reason why you will not take your freedom!"

The dull eyes showed a hint of sadness before the sardonic little smile, the one that showed rotted teeth and rotting gums and blood as the lips cracked further, returned while the zanpakutou melted back into the shadows of the bloody and filthy cage. "I would rather live in hell, than catch a glimpse heaven, only to find it a dream."

Wow... sat down to write humour and tragedy came out... I am a talented cookie. ^_^. If you didn't pick up on it - the zanpakutou Muramasa was attempting to convert was Kenpachi's.

Thanks to the best little brother in the whole wide world(!) (seriously over the last year – he has bought for me FEAR 2, Assassins Creed Brotherhood, Force Unleashed II and a bookmark from Korea, plus he's just awesome!) for reading it over – I hope you guys enjoy it. ^_^
