Not Just A Porter
A/N
So this is a wee one shot which came into my head whilst I was having my dinner! It's my interpretation of how Zoe and Max get back together… Of course, one of the lines is nicked from the trailer/this Saturday but I am sure you know which one I mean! I do not own the characters or Casualty!
Set from Zoe's point of view.
Reviews welcome,

Told from Zoe's point of view.
To say I'm stressed and very annoyed is an understatement. Connie is in a bad mood, Dylan has nicked my purple stethoscope (again) I have no idea why, because he's one of the inspectors for today. And on top of all this, I have a huge pile of paperwork to get through. Plus, Max has been mooning around like a lost puppy all day, during the few minutes I have actually spent in the ED treating patients instead of cooped up in mine and Ash's office, doing paperwork. I suppose Max's latest conquest has let him down. Connie has been on his back all day, too.
Outside, I hear shouting, it's Connie, she's having a go at Max, surprise surprise. I peep outside and have a look.
"You're just a porter! A person who can be easily replaced, and has no true place in the team, no real worth. So can you please just get on with doing the little work you are provided with, please, and stop chattering away to the patients so much?" she asks him. Max storms off.
"Actually, a porter's job is a very important one. They help the patients, wheel them to wherever they need to go, and they make them feel comfortable and relaxed in what can be an intimidating environment, so Connie, if you don't agree with me, you can stick it where the sun doesn't shine and feel free to fire me, one of your best consultants." I inform the frosty Clinical Lead. The ED is silent.
"You've got some room to talk, seeing as you slept with him. Protecting your boyfriend, are you?" she snaps back.
"Actually, we broke up, partly because of stress via you. I'm going to go and tell him that I still love him. And that he isn't "just a porter" to quote you." I reply, and hurry out after Max.
Clapping is ringing in my ears from the staff, I hope that I have voiced what they've all been thinking.
"Max, wait" I see him in what used to be our smoking spot. He looks up.
"Zoe, what are you doing here?" he frowns.
Without letting him protest, I pull him into a hug and bury my face into his chest, inhaling his scent which I have missed for so, so long, not caring who sees us anymore. I lift my head and look into his eyes, tears in my own.
"Max Walker, you are a lot more than just a porter to me. To me, you're one of the very few people who understand me… and love me, I suspect." I smile at him.
"Really? You're in love with me? And of course I still love you" he smiles.
I nod. "I guess some flames just aren't meant to go out" I answer with a smile on my face, and he smiles and pulls me into a kiss. I wrap my arms around him, and deepen it.
"That was amazing" he informs me.
"You ain't seen nothing yet, but you will just have to wait for your lovely girlfriend to show you more later on." I wink at him, pecking him on the lips again.
We walk back into the ED, hand in hand.
THE END!
I hope that you've all enjoyed this :D xxx
