Pockets of Time

Chapter 1. Julian & Logan (The Evening of Valentine's Fair)

It was the night of the Valentine's fair and everyone had settled back into their dorms as the last few booths were being taken down. Logan had had a rough day, he had finally come to terms with his relationship with Kurt and then the day progressed with the loss of his friends, it seemed that the one who always got his way had finally received his comeuppance for his actions.

It was with this that he sat on the window ledge and stared across the bleak grounds with all the cheer and frivolity of the day being washed away by the darkness, he felt as though there was no hope. There was no one for him. Out of the corner of his eye he glimpsed a body moving with that smug strut he would recognise anywhere, his ex-friend Julian.

And at that Logan's heart stopped. Just a split second. He realised what he had done, he watched intently as the star moved to the popular serenade booth which had yet to be taken down. Logan found this very unusual, surely Julian could have booked a personal recording studio if he really wanted. Logan opened his window in the hope of being able to listen in.

Julian asked the attendant very tentatively "Could I possibly...?" the reply was silent as the student gestured to the open booth, one question came though just as the depressed artiste was about the sing his hopes goodbye. He replied that it wouldn't matter, the person who needed to hear would never hear it as he thought how he would be wrapped up in thought about Kurt, how wrong julian was.

Logan was very suprised to hear a very sweet voice drift from the booth, He could not hear the restraint in Julian holding back tears from the distance he was. But Logan himself recognised the song.

Will you tell me when the lights are fading

Cos I can't see, I can't see no more

Julian's voice picked up as he got into the song, all his feeling pouring into it, Logan was almost at a point to join in himself.

Will you tell me when the song stops playing

Cos I can't hear, I can't hear no more

She said I don't know what you're living for

She said I don't know what you're living for at all

He said I don't know what you're living for

He said I don't know what you're living for at all

Logan began to understand at this what exactly someone had said earlier in the day, why had he been so blind to see it?

But I will run until me feet no longer run no more

And I will kiss until my lips no longer feel no more

It was at this point that Logan joined in, very quietly but he still felt as though it would connect with Julian.

And I will love until my heart it aches

And I will love until my heart it breaks

And I will love until there's nothing more to live for

Julian's voice began to crack on the last chorus but he kept it strong and thought of his hope for Logan to just realise how strong Julian's feeling were.

And I will love until my heart it aches

And I will love until my heart it breaks

And I will love until there's nothing more to live for

After Julian stopped singing he was out of breath, he left the booth and the attendant passed him a CD of his song, in a moment of madness Julian took the CD and wrote one word upon it. Sorry.

He looked up at the sky as he walked back to his house to get his luggage and he saw a shooting star, he made his wish.

Logan was making his way out of Stuart house, he noticed some very recognisable luggage and picked up his pace hoping. Running towards the booth he too saw the shooting star in the sky, he made the same wish.

Julian was looking at the floor as he walked and his head bumped into a tall student. Julian could not believe his eyes, it was Logan. Logan put both his arms around the boy who now felt so secure in his hold, he was his protector. And hopefully, just maybe this was the start of something, something life changing for the both of them.
