Ginny sat in the living room of the Burrow waiting for her boyfriend to come visit. He was rarely ever this late unless work held him up. Even then, he would sit send her a quick owl.
No one was at the Burrow today so they would be alone. The silence was deafening. Ginny was so used to her brothers being here to talk, or make noise, or bother her in some kind of way. The Burrow was also cleaner than usual. Even though most of her brothers had kids now and had moved away a while ago, it was still weird how there were no broomsticks strewn across the yard, or random prototypes from Weasley Wizard Wheezes all over the house. Even though it had been 2 years since the battle (not to mention Ginny was now 19), it still felt weird not having Fred, Tonks, Remus or Colin around.
A small 'pop' could be heard from outside the house. Ginny's heart immediately began to beat fast as she ran to the window. His black hair was particularly messy today as he came running to the house. Ginny ran to the front door and flung it open. He pulled her into a hug and they stood in the door frame for about 10 minutes(or at least it felt that way to Ginny). He finally let go and they stared into each other's eyes. After a moment or two, Ginny asked, "Why have you got one of the biggest smiles I've ever seen on your face?"
"Well," he replied, " today I asked the girl of my dreams if she would marry me!" His smile got bigger and his face redder as he said this.
Ginny almost fainted from shock. Her head was spinning. He was seeing someone else this whole time? Who? And why? Ginny could feel tears welling up in her eyes. She tried as hard as she could to fight them back as she asked, "So," her voice was shaking," who is the lucky girl you asked?" If he was marrying someone else she was going to know who. She wanted to know who had taken him away from her.
"Oh," he said in very fake surprised voice, "did I say asked. What I meant to say was I was going to ask the girl of my dreams to marry me." He took a small velvet box out of his pocket and got down on one knee.
"Ginevra, sorry, Ginny Molly Weasley, you were what kept me going in the hopeless days of Voldemort's reign. Just knowing you were alive kept me going, and knowing that you love me today is more than I deserve. I never want to leave your side because, you are the reason I can cast a patronus, you were my last thought before Voldemort tried to kill me again. So, now that the rambling is done with, my main point of all of this, will you marry me?"
Ginny didn't bother holding back the tears as she sprang forwards into his arms nodding her head almost violently. Their lips met and sat there in the Weasley's kitchen for what felt like an hour. Fireworks were going on inside of both of their heads. Harry then pulled away revealing a huge smile that could have rivaled the one he had on earlier. They both sat on the floor of the Burrow smiling, and staring into each other's eyes.
For the first time since the war, Ginny Weasley and Harry Potter were happy, truly happy.
