This one was in response to the Drabble challenge run by BonesBird on Facebook, last November's lyrics I think. AlphaFlyer, this is for you.

As usual, I don't own anything except the characters you don't recognise.

Pictures of you, pictures of me

Hung up on your wall for the world to see

Pictures of you, pictures of me

Remind us all of what we used to be

Nicola Barton-Stark stood at the bottom of the stairs of her parents' very large Malibu mansion, looking up at the many, many pictures lining the wall of the curved staircase.

She had spent many a minute admiring the pictures growing up; the ones of her parents, her grandparents, her grandparents' infamous superhero team, and every other possible related moment of the past forty-or-so years.

It was weird, knowing she was related to these famous people, amazing people she had never met, but was eternally thankful for saving the world x amount of times enough to enable her to be born.

Her eyes travelled up the stairs with every step she took. A photo here of the Avengers team, before they were a team; a photo there of the team, post battle, all torn up and scratched and triumphant and a team.

A photo of her grandparents, Tony Stark and Pepper Potts on their wedding day, one that was apparently a long time coming, surrounded by the team but all suitably dressed.

A photo of her husband's grandparents on their own wedding day, one vastly different in so many ways, other than the love they shared for each other.

A photo of her father just after he was born, the tiny pink baby held in the arms of Thor.

A photo of her aunts, the twins, climbing all over Director Fury, despite his best efforts to keep the little monkeys off his leather coat.

She skipped a few, her eyes immediately searching out one photo set in particular.

Hers.

Nicola as a baby, screaming in her mother's arms; as a toddler putting on a fashion show that was anything but; as a child in school plays, a teen in talent shows, a college student starring in many theatre productions.

Nicola's first Broadway production as an actress, her first Broadway production cast as a lead character.

Nicola Stark and Christopher Barton's wedding day. She smiled at that one. It was only a few years ago, and she cherished every moment she shared with her husband, also a grandchild of the Avengers.

Her eyes moved regretfully to the next picture, Christopher's funeral. He had been killed in a car crash less than a year after their wedding, only days after they found out they were expecting their first child.

The thought made her eyes move to her favourite picture of all; the one of her and her daughter only minutes after Elizabeth Christine Barton's birth.

It was amazing, how four generations of family were documented by pictures on the wall.

It enabled her to always remember, never forget, just where she came from, and just how much she had changed for the better.
