A/N: This idea has been driving me insane. I can't get it out of my head. So basically the idea of this story revolves around the question. What if Chuck brought back more than just Mary Winchester? This will be a watching the show fic due to the fact that those are my favorite kind of fanfiction story and I feel that the idea has been severally underused. I'm going to use the first two chapters to just see if the idea of this kind of story gets anyone interested. Anyway welcome my fellow Supernatural fans to The Resurrection. Last thing, the only thing in this story that will happen the same way as the show will be the episodes themselves and the characters backstories.
The Resurrection
Chapter 1: Family Reunion
The Bunker
"I can't believe it's over Dean. After everything that has happened with the mark and Amara its all over. Just like that?" Sam asked as they walked into the bunker after Chuck and Amara vanished.
"I don't know man. I can hardly believe it either." Dean answered just as confused as his brother. Neither one of them could hardly believe that the year of dealing with the darkness could just be over in one night.
"And what did Chuck mean about a gift?" Sam asked his voice raising slightly. Before they vanished Chuck said they would be getting a gift for helping to reunite him with his sister. "I mean come on Dean! When does a powerful deity promising us a gift ever turn out well!?"
"How am I supposed to know man! And it's Chuck. He may be god but I don't see him actually giving us a gift to screw us over." Dean said walking over to the table in the middle of what they like to call the batcave.
"Yea I guess you're right man. This year has just gotten to me I guess." Sam said sitting down in the chair across from his brother with a weary sigh.
"I know how you feel man." Dean said giving off his own sigh. After a couple of minutes of silence both brothers felt power fill the air around them as a letter appeared on the table between the brothers.
Dean and Sam both looked at each other before their eyes dropped to the letter sitting in front of them. The envelope only said both of their names on the top.
Sam was the first one to speak, "What do you think? Do we open it?"
"I mean it can't hurt." Dean said. Dean was always the more reckless out of the two brothers. Especially when it came to protecting Sam.
Dean picked up the envelope as Sam walked around the table to read over his brothers shoulder. Dean opened the envelope and took out the piece of paper. On that paper was words written in Chuck's handwriting:
Dear Winchesters
For years you two have done nothing but save the world with no thanks for your actions. I should know I wrote the series detailing you adventures.
Now before I vanished I promised you two a gift. After careful consideration I have finally decided on the perfect gift for the brothers who have lost so much.
Now here is what your going to need to do. Down the road from the bunker there is a group of warehouses with your gifts inside. I think you both will be pleased with it. You will know that your in the right place when you see the sign.
I know I have made a lot of mistakes with you boys and I hope this will help make up for it.
Sincerely,
Chuck
Both boys sat in silence for a long time pondering over the letter from Chuck until one of the words caught Dean's attention. "Hey, before he left Chuck or god or whoever the hell he is these days, said we would be receiving a gift. But in the letter he said we would find our gifts in some warehouse."
Sam just shook his head still trying to rap his head around the fact that they just got a letter from god.
"Well I guess the only thing we can do is go to the warehouse." Dean said standing up from the table and heading to the door of the bunker.
"Woah hang on a second man. How do we even know that this is really Chuck? It could be Crowley trying to mess with us again!" Sam said trying to talk some sense in his brother.
"I don't know man!" Dean snapped at his brother turning around to face him at the stairs. "I just have a feeling. I mean maybe after all these years of crap something is finally going our way for once." Dean said with desperation beginning to enter his voice. "Maybe just maybe we can finally get something for everyone we have lost! Now I don't know about you but i'm going to find this warehouse and see exactly what this is all about. And if this is a trap set by Crowley then I guess I will be putting a bullet in that bastard's ass. Now am I going by myself."
Sam stood next to the table deep in thought before making decision. "Okay fine we go."
Dean looked at his brother with a smile begging to form on his face. "Okay then let's go."
Lebanon Kansas Warehouse District
"So in the letter Chuck mentioned some kind of sign leading us to the correct warehouse. Any idea what that sign could be?" Sam asked from the passenger seat of the Impala.
"No clue but it's Chuck so it should be something pretty obvious." Dean said in response to his brothers question. As they spoke they passed a warehouse with a billboard in front of it.
"Dean stop!" Sam yelled noticing the billboard first.
"What!?" Dean yelled slamming on the brakes and stopping in the middle of the road.
"Look at the billboard." Sam said pointing at the billboard.
Dean looked to see what his brother was pointing at and noticed the billboard. It was a simple picture of a church but what mainly caught Dean's attention ,and most likely his brother's as well, was the words that were printed next to the church: Let the words of God fill your heart with eternal happiness.
"You don't think…?" Dean asked.
Sam shrugged, "Well it is Chuck. I mean he said it was our gifts so it would make sense that he would make the sign obvious. Plus he did say it would be impossible to miss."
"Can't hurt to check it out." Dean said turing into the warehouse. After the car was parked both of the brothers got out of the car and proceeded to head towards the closest door. Upon entering the warehouse both brothers immediately stop in shock. Standing in the middle of the warehouse was a group of people neither one of them ever thought they see again.
Lebanon Kansas Warehouse District Minutes Before Sam and Dean Open the Door
If someone was in the warehouse at the time all they would have been able to describe would be a bright light and suddenly a group of people were lying unconscious in the middle of the floor. It was a couple of minutes after they appeared that the middle aged man wearing an extremely worn down hat began to wake up.
"Balls." He groaned as he sat up with a massive headache. He began to look around and gasped when he saw a middle aged woman lying next to girl in her late 20's. He immediately sat up and ran over to them and tried to shake them awake.
"Ellen! Jo! Come on wake up." He said in desperation. After a few minutes of shaking them Ellen groaned and opened her eyes. A few seconds later so did Jo. When Ellen noticed who was standing over her she gasped and sat up giving the older man a hug with Jo not far behind.
"Bobby! Where are we? How did we get here? How are you walking?" Ellen cried out with Jo looking like she wasn't far behind.
"I don't know. Last thing I remember was helping the boys with something they needed done from heaven. I just woke up here not even five minutes ago." Bobby explained looking just as confused as the girls.
"Hey guys who are they?" Jo asked nodding at the two still unconscious women next to them. One of them looked to be around Ellen's age while the other girl looked like she couldn't be much older than Jo.
Bobby crouched next to them and lightly shoot their arms enticing a groan from both.
"Where am I?" The older woman asked in a daze holding her head. She looked up and noticed Bobby crouching in front of her. Instantly she put herself on guard. Something that all three of the hunters noticed.
"Who are you?" The lady asked glancing the room for a way to escape.
"Just calm down lady. My name is Bobby Singer. This is Ellen and her daughter Jo. We are just as confused as you are." Bobby said calming the woman down slightly. "What's your name?"
"Mary Winchester." She answered, slightly curious of why the old guy, Bobby, began to mutter 'balls' under his breath. None of them noticed that the younger girl had now woken up and was starting to panic.
"Who are you people? Where am I?"
"Relax it's okay. We aren't going to hurt you." Jo said stepping up to the younger girl. "What's your name?" Jo asked while Bobby helped Mary to stand.
"My name is Jessica. Jessica Moore." She said her voice slightly quivering.
"Why does that name sound so familiar?" Bobby muttered to himself. Witch due to the fact no one was talking everyone heard anyway.
"Bobby do you know her?" Ellen asked.
"Jessica do you know someone named Sam Winchester?" Bobby suddenly asked out of the blue immediately catching Mary's attention at the mention of her youngest son.
"Yes. He's my boyfriend. I have to find him. Let him know that i'm okay." She said beginning to get frantic.
"You know my son?" Mary asked. Looking at the group and Bobby in pertaclar.
"I practically raised that boy." Bobby said looking her in the eye. "While your husband was away hunting he would sometimes leave Sam and Dean with me."
"Wait you can't be Sam's mom." Jessica said still not able to rap her head around the situation.
"And why not?" Mary asked slightly hostile.
"Because Sam told me you died in a house fire when he was a baby." Jessica said in confusion.
"Just hang on a minute. Everyone calm down. Jessica what is the last thing you remember?" Bobby asked.
"I had just made cookies for Sam for when he got home from helping his brother find their father. I remember our friend Brady coming to the door and his eyes. I must have been seeing things. I had to have been seeing things." Jessica said beginning to get frantic once again.
"It's okay sweetheart whatever you say we will believe you." Ellen said walking up and taking Jessica's hand.
"His eyes turned completely black. He forced his way into the apartment and threw me into a wall. I remember hearing a car pull into the parking lot. I began to slide up the wall and onto the ceiling. An intense pain spread across my stomach and I hear Sam enter the apartment. I see him lie down on the bed and my blood began to drip on his head. He looked up and screamed my name as fire flew out around my body. I see his brother run in and drag him out. That's the last thing I remember." Jess said at this point crying her eyes out. She turned to Bobby and asked through the tears. "What happened to Sam. Is he okay?"
"Last time I saw him both Sam and Dean were okay." Bobby said reassuring her.
"Wait if we all died then how are we alive now." Jo asked. "The last thing I remember was getting my guts ripped out by hellhounds when we went after Lucifer."
"What was that thing that killed me?" Jessica asked.
"Let's save the explanations for when we get out of here." Bobby said. Just then they all heard a door begin to open. Standing inside the doorway was the two people that they all wanted to see.
"Sam!" Jessica yelled running trying to run into her former boyfriends arms only to have a gun pointing at her head.
"Sam what are you doing?" Jessica asked with hurt in her voice.
"Your not Jess. She's dead." Sam said with rage in his eyes.
"Sammy." Dean said from next to him and nodded to the other people.
"Dean you don't think this is the gift that Chuck meant do you?" Sam asked hope filing his eyes.
Dean didn't answer. He had his eyes locked on the one person he was never able to get his mind off of.
"Jo." He said tears beginning to pool in his eyes.
"Dean." She said just as emotional
Jo began to run witch soon turned into a sprint and dived into Dean's arms. Both of them were holding each other tight as though either one of them could disappear at a moments notice. None of the people who had known Dean before they died had ever seen him this vulnerable.
Everyone turned around when they heard a metal clang on the floor. Sam was standing staring at Jessica with tears running down his face. They could tell from his eyes that he was terrified to believe that she could be back.
"Jess." He said in a sob. After he said her name the name the dam broke and both of them ran into each other's arms and started kissing as though they were in a dream and they didn't want to wake up.
"Sam? Dean?" Mary spoke brokenly looking at her two grown up sons.
"Mom?" Dean said also getting Sam's attention.
Both brothers walked up to their mother with Jo and Jess not far behind. Sam and Dean took Mary into their arms and hugged them as if their lives depended on it.
"Oh my beautiful boys." She said pulling back. "Look at you. Your all grown up."
"Mom. We missed you so much." Sam said with tears running down his face.
"Look boys we are all happy to see your okay but i just have to say something." Bobby said. "What the hell did you do!?" he finished with a yell.
"Bobby what are you talking about?" Ellen asked from behind him.
"Think about it. All of us suddenly showing up here alive. There is only one way I know that that can happen." Bobby said before turning back to Sam and Dean. "How long do you have?"
"What?" Sam asked confused.
"The deal! How long did you get!?" Bobby yelled stepping closer.
"You think we made a deal? Bobby we didn't make a deal." Dean assured him.
"Then how do you explain us being back?" Bobby asked slightly calmer than before.
"Look let's go somewhere else to talk about this okay. A warehouse is not the best place for this conversation." Dean said.
"Where are we going to go?" Jess asked holding Sam's hand tightly. Everyone was slightly worried when Dean got an excited look on his face.
The Bunker
"Welcome to the Men of Letters Bunker." Dean said spreading his arms.
"What's the Men of Letters?" Bobby asked.
"Well it's…." Sam started before they all felt the same of rush of power fill the room that the bothers felt earlier when the letter from Chuck appeared. Just like before a letter appeared on the main table. Dean walked up and picked up the letter. He looked back at Sam and the two seemed to have a private conversation before Dean opened the letter and began to read it aloud.
Dear Sam and Dean
I hope you have enjoyed the gifts so far boys. Now I know how you are so I know you won't want to explain your entire story to your family so I thought I would make it easier on you by showing them instead. After you finish this letter a tv will appear and allow your family to watch your lives so you won't have to tell them yourselves.
I hope you enjoy you enjoy your lives boys. You deserve it.
Sincerely
Chuck.
As soon as Dean finished reading the letter the table in front of him was replaced by three couches each big enough to fit two people with a tv sitting in front of them. The couches were arranged in a circular fashion so each person could see the tv clearly.
"So what we just sit here and watch your lives?" Jess asked her arm tightly around Sam.
"No, you are going to sit there and watch our lives. I don't know about Dean but there is some stuff in our lives that I can't relive." Sam said holding Jess tighter to him.
"I agree with Sam. Besides we have just been through a lot so we are going to go and get some shut eye while y'all watch." Dean said lying a kiss on Jo's head with a heavy look in his eyes before he walked down the hall where everyone assumed his room was.
Sam leaned down to kiss Jess before he started walking after his brother with some parting words. "If you have any major questions come and wake me up. Just not Dean unless your Jo. He might shoot you." He said before walking down the hallway to his own room.
"Well I guess we better get started." Bobby said sitting down on one of the couches.
Once everyone was sat the tv screen lit up and the first scene began to play out.
A/N: Well guys that's the first chapter. I will try to have the next chapter up tomorrow. Review and let me know what you think of the story so far.
